Hello,

I have a m91/30 ex sniper. I had the filled scope mount holes removed by a gunsmith and mounted an original scope mount. Im looking for a scope to attach to this mount but the ring diameter is a very awkward size. The mount is also built in a way where I cannot remove the rings. The scope has to slide into the rings and clamp down.

All the PU scopes i see out there are $300 plus. I only have $150 invested in this rifle! Any of you guys have any particular scopes that you can recommend for this type of mount?

Does that include the mount and hardware? If so, that's not a terrible price. Seems to be what they cost these days, unfortunately...

You might be better off just buying another one. If you paid $150 for yours and you're going to put $300 more into it, you'd still be in the hole by about $50. You can get a PU rifle for $399...

Probably not what you wanted to hear. Sorry...

Keep looking on e-bay and gun broker, though. You might find a good deal there...

Awesome... :D

Yeah, 7.62x54R is a pretty stout cartridge. You need something fairly durable...

Are there any aftermarket PU scopes in in 6x +?

The "repros" are made on the same equipment the originals were, only they use better glass for the lenses.

Quinc, 4.5x is the best you can find, and they have a 1" tube

Why not just use the ATI or other similar drill 'n' tap mount, and then a Nikon ProStaff, Redfield, or other good standard scope? They're solid! And a vendor on eBay sells a scope mount that uses a steel wrap-around tensioning method that works well, no drill 'n' tap needed.

He is wanting to restore it to sniper config not sporter it. He already had it restored for the PU scope mount

As far as that wrap around method, I'll almost guarentee you need to relieve the stock some to fit, otherwise you will have some weird stock to metal to metal pressure and will probably shoot different every time. But YMMV has anyone tried this

Sadly, classic arms is out of these and some other C and R rifles and is not planning to restock. I called three times and got the same bad news each time:mad:

Based on the price, I would guess that is the same Repro Sniper being imported by Century and sold by just about everyone.

Century and SOG also have them, but you need to log in to see them.

I got one from SOG, and while the condition was good, I am not happy with the accuracy so far. Still have some other things to try though.
