Opinions on this vs. Turner's Winchester SuperX 555 @ $20?

I'm frustrated with our store in nearby Capitola.
They never buy enough sale ammo, and are seemingly always out of stock of the ammo on sale.
"Check back tomorrow" is their motto.
Edit: ditto for Watsonville store.
Lotsa unopened delivery boxes on the floor. The bewildered sales clerk was opening boxes labeled "binoculars" or "Remington" while looking for CCI ammo on sale...:dots:
I suppose that it is all about good timing after a sale is announced.
Gotta be "Johnny on the spot" around this part of the state!

Green box Winchester 555's for $12.95 at OnTarget

What's OnTarget? A retail chain? The red box 555's are superx. IDK what the green box ones are and how they compare.

wait no they aren't. They are stamped Super X but the stats are different.

blazer black in the 500 round box is CCI overrun. Its a superb .22 round, not the most accurate but it will function in anything I've ever tried it in. The 525 box of blazer is Federal bulk overrun and is not as high of quality.

The best deal I've seen lately is $170 a case shipped.

I can sorta vouch for WInchester 555. In Tibet (My Umarex M4) not a single loading or failed to fire problem of the 120+ WInchester red box I put through it yesterday and good groups of ~2" full mag till empty at ~17 yrds (OC Indoor Range in Brea.) Either deal isn't great, it's just pretty good if its local. Not so hot out of Saffron, my Heritage Rough Rider. Ill go with Blazer this time.

Love the Blazer. I like using non-plated .22.. Seams to be more accurate for me.

I picked up a bulk box of 525 Blazers @ Turners last week. They were CCI, you can tell by the lot #.

Federal lot numbers begin with one digit and end with three digits, Example: 2GX471

CCI lot numbers begin with a letter and end with two digits, Example: J23Q10

They also say CCI on the box and rim stamp =D

The only place it says CCI at all on the box is with small print at the bottom back of the box where it says CCI/SPEER OPERATIONS but so do the Federal bulk Blazer packs.
CCI and Federal is all the same company now.

Winchester 333/555 has proven to be the best bulk stuff for my 15-22. It loves that ammo. I wish the blazers were copper plated.

Can I get a link to the Winchester ontarget deal?

too bad about Federal and CCI merging. Was hoping CCI could continue to figure ways to squeeze every bit out of our humble .22lr.

Hm, didn't know that. How long ago was that? Maybe Federal will be a lot more like the blazers?

Basically correct, although I bought some 525 boxes from Palmetto and they were CCI overun, not Federal.

If you can take a look at the box, see where it is manufactured. If it says Lewiston, ID then it came from the CCI factory, has a dark, waxy lube coating on the bullet, and shoots great! If it says Anoka, MN then it came from the Federal factory, and it has a clear, almost non-existent lube on the bullet, and it shoots decent, but maybe 20 fps slower than the Lewiston product with slightly more shot-to-shot variation in muzzle flash and report.

Alliant Tech Systems (ATK) owns both CCI and Federal now, so Blazer 22LR could come from either factory.

Oh wow. I wonder if I should just buy the 500 packs instead of the 525 then? Hmm. My box is gone so I have no clue which factory it came from. I did have some trouble with my blazer's my second time at the range with my rifle but I think it was a beginner cleaning error on my part. The front of the bolt was caked up pretty fast
