And a pretty solid group from a standing position about 40ish yards away.

My first 5 rounds were the flyer top right, three overlapping in the 8 ring and the one just to the left of those three. My next two shots were to the right in the 8 and 9 ring. My friend hit close to the bullseye. Not bad for a blind kid, no scope, and a standing position! This was only my second time taking it out. I will post pics of the rifle soon.

1891/30 hex receiver from 1928.

I'm using surplus Bulgarian. Really nasty stuff.

I actually prefer the recoil on the Mosin to a 12 gauge. It feels like more of a push than a kick, but I'm sure that's because it is the full-size full weight Mosin.

Sweet! I've been meaning to check out that ammo, I always go for yugo or russian surplus but I hear god things about it.

You bet your butt it is! First mosin experience I had was with my roommate's M44 with no recoil reducing pad... It kicked HARD! Then I recently bought myself an Izhevsk M91/30 from 1942 and was expecting similar recoil. Pffft, that thing feels like a .223 compared to the M44.

Glad you like your new (to you) Mosin!

The more i shoot my Mosins, the more i love-em. The 38 does hurt after awhile though, but the flame is worth it...
