Can anyone recommend a reliable converter to convert CD audio into mp3 files? I'm trying to fit several audio CDs onto a mp3 player to learn a foreign language since it's easier to carry around a small mp3 player than a stack of CDs. My computer has Vista, which I hate, but I don't want to pay microsoft anymore money to get another OS.
thanks everyone.

Windows Media Player should rip to .mp3.

I use Soundforge Sonic Foundry, but it's pretty full-featured and allows me to make EQ and compression adjustments.
It's just what I'm used to using.

MediaMonkey, IIRC, is free and will do it, and the newer versions of Windows MP should rip as well.

If you want dead simple, use itunes or windows media player. If you want something with more features, use Audacity or mediamonkey. I suggest mediamonkey because it does a good job of cataloging music and makes it easy to sync your mp3 player.

What's wrong with iTunes?

If you really want to get audio-nerd on it you can download LAME (http://lame.sourceforge.net/).
