I've received my c&r license in the mail last week but haven't got the DVD just yet. Anyways I was wondering if I purchase something with my c&r license now how am I supposed to record it? What information do I need? I was thinkingthis would be in the DVD that's supposed to come but like I said it's not here yet.

You need some type of dedicated notebook in which you record acquisitions and disposals. You can make one up from a blank bound notebook or buy a commercial product http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.ACCT107430/sc.23/category.349/.f

They don't include the instructions anymore? That's weird. See here for your answers: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/

Click on "Curios and Relics" and on "Records Required - Licenses".

+1 for the Brownells book which is the old way all dealers kept their records years ago. Also you should send a copy of your lic to them. They are a great source of parts.

Not seeing it there.

From here: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/curios-relics.html

Q: Are licensed collectors required to execute ATF Form 4473 for transactions in curio or relic firearms?

No. Licensed collectors are only required to keep a “bound book” record.

[27 CFR 478.125(f)]

That links to:

27 CFR 478.125(f) (http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=ecfr&rgn=div8&view=text&node=27:3.0.1.2.3.8.1.6&idno=27) which has an example for your bound book info (they call it "Firearms Collectors Acquisition and Disposition Record"). No need to buy anything.

My license just came in the mail today. I was also expecting the packet of instructions, but there was just a license.

At the bottom, it explains how the publications and an supply of forms will arrive seperately and are mailed from the ATF distribution center in Virginia. They say it'll take 10 days or so for them to arrive.

No complaints here. They got me my license less than three weeks from when I mailed it in!!

I got my license about 5 months ago and I still haven't received the info packet. Thank God we have Calguns!
