View Full Version : cheap place to buy surplus ammo cans?
12-03-2010, 12:15 PM
So far, the best price I've found for surplus ammo cans is a table at the Del Mar "Crossroads" gun show (it's a dad and his pushy kid running the table).
Any other good sources? I went to the last OC Crossroads, and there were a few people selling on Sunday, but they were a lot more expensive then the Del Mar guy... plus parking/admission/kettle corn adds up quite fast when all you want are a few ammo cans.

Have you seen this guy?

Thanks! I think I'll send some cash that guys way, once I have some. ;-)
Still happy for more suggestions, BTW.
If you can do with the modern plastic version, I get mine from Cabela free with 4 boxes of Federal Bulk 22's. It's a little taller than the standard 50 cal can. I got so many, I started giving them to my friends.
If you time it right, you can get free shipping. If you order before 12/7, I think there's a $20 off coupon.

I've seen those plastic boxes, about $10 empty at the store.
Plastic ammo cans just seem a bit... unholy. ;-)

Depending on what size you need, Escondido Metal Supply has pallets of them for what I thought were good prices. I can't quote them, but I remember looking at them and thinking, "That's not bad!"

I have seen them at Turners every now and then for $9.

I swung by Escondido Metal Supply today, and found out they close at 1:30pm on saturdays. ;-(
it's a long drive from Compton, so I think I'll send some money to the guy at the link Ed Hazard indicated.
If anyone stops by EMS and notes down the ammo can prices, please post them here!
