The first gun I ever bought/had was this Ruger 10/22 carbine I bought when I turned 18 years old. I shot the hell out of it until I turned 21 and bought my first and favorite handgun, my Beretta Brigadier. For 8 years it sat in the back of my closet wherever I moved to and never saw the light of day.

About a month ago I finally pulled the old carbine out, cleaned her up and decided to build her up into a precision rimfire rifle.

I started out by completely stripping her down, hand sanding and polishing the black painted receiver into a nice matte finish. I added a volq hammer, extractor, sear, auto release, and extended mag release. I also added a kidd bolt handle, along with a revolution stock, and a green mountain 20" stainless fluted barrel. I then added an PC scope base, burris rings, and a Mueller APV scope. The last piece was the Harris Bipod that I got in on Monday. I will take the rifle out to sight in on the first dry Saturday and see how well it shoots. The rifle isn't as heavy as I thought it would be.

Here are the pics, crappy as always:

I'll have to try that once I get the rifle sighted in and see what ammo it likes best.

Looks nice, I also have my eye on a green mtn fluted barrel. I hear their quality is very good, interested in hearing how your accuracy is with it.

What scope is that?

Mueller APV, I picked it up from Gunkings and got a free sunshade with it.

Interesting, I thought it was larger than 40mm, nice zoom range on that. I put a 52mm on mine and there is zero cheek weld on the ruger stock, so I'm looking at your stock and thinking it might be a better option for me as well.

The first thing I did when I put it all together was sit down at my dining room table to simulate bench shooting to see how the the fit of the cheek weld was for me.The cheek weld on the stock with the Mueller APV was very comfortable for me.

Here is a link to the stock I got from shooters discount:

What kind of scope rings are you using with your rifle? I wonder if you could switch them out for something with a lower profile that will still give you the clearance you need if you want to keep your current stock.

Yeah I do have some space to work with, I'm using 1" high rings but I think I might be able to get by with 1/2", but you can see from the pic that there is no cheek weld, I'm thinking a stock like yours, or a Tapco and then a cheek pad of some sort. I can't get the stock until i get my barrel though, my 10/22 is still a work in progress.
