Searched but could not find a mention of the James Bond Walther LP-53 being sold at auction on CGN. Amazing the site missed this.

The Walther air pistol held by Bond actor Sean Connery in the poster for the 1963 film “From Russia With Love” was sold for 277,250 pounds ($437,206) to an unidentified telephone bidder, Christie’s said.

The Original price the item was sold to Christie’s for was much less.

Still, not a bad return for either the original owner or Christie’s for and air pistol.

Wow! The Brits are really getting hard up for guns if they are willing to pay $437,206 for a BB gun.

Even though he is a fictional character, the early 1960's James Bond to the British is the American equivalent of George Washington, Wyatt Earp and John Wayne rolled into one. A BB gun that had been owned by all three of them would sell for the same price over here. Connery's Bond was the savior of British manhood at a time when the British Empire was falling apart.

OK, well I have to ask the trivia question - who was the first actor to play James Bond .....?

Marty Feldman.

He had that stealthy 'look-both-ways-at-the-same-time' vision.

..or Barry Nelson

Being a BB gun isn't why it's worth that much to some people. Hell, because it IS a BB gun it's more functional/practical than some of the movie props American film fans have purchased over the years for obscene amounts of money.

He's James Bond. How do you know the sights aren't lined up on the target. There could be ninjas up there or something. :p
