Leupold makes an excellent scope. You won't be disappointed with their scopes. I prefer fixed power scopes somewhere between 2.5 and 4x as my longest ethical shot is 200 yards.

Outside of a Rifleman scope, you can't go wrong recommending a Leupold. The only problem I have with recommending a Leupold is, you lose sight of how good other brands are compared to Leupold.
For example, you can get a Burris Fullfield II, which in my opinion is better than a VXII, for about half the price. Or you can get a Vortex Viper for a similar price of a VXII. Nothing wrong with a VXII, just that you can get more for your money going elsewhere. Or better yet, you can get the same (or better) quality for less money.
but will it have the lifetime warranty?
What do you want to hunt? What type of terrain?
A 4-12X isn't necessarily the best choice for your 470 Nitro Express double rifle when your hunting the thick stuff in Zambia for elephant.
