Havent been to Angeles yet but want to sight in my AR15 at 25 yds.

Can you use AR15s on the Black Benches there?

And for the concrete benches are there any markers there telling distance (25, 50 yds...?)

Yes you can use the black benches, as for marked distances I don't trust it. Next time I go I'm gonna range it myself.

Thanks... so they at least have some markers there then on the concrete and black benches?

Charles,
I haven't been up there lately, but I believe (unless I'm mistaken) there are wood railroad ties on the ground where you can put your target at 25y, 50y and 100y. I was planning on going up there sometime next week to sight in a new rifle also.

the 50 and 100 yard range was only off by 1-1.5 meters so pretty spot on

and yes feel free to blast your ar there no problem,

angeles is one of my favorite ranges, i know there are some haters

but i really dig that place

I love Angeles. On the left side, there are ties for 25, 50, 75 and 100. You can also put paper out at 200y.
BTW, why are you zeroing your AR at 25y and not 50y?

So, I am going to Angeles tomorrow. Will I have a problem finding a lane or is it going to be like Burro Cyn? Last time I was there, I was waiting for a lane.

Why not just zero it at the distance that you are planning to shoot it? It only takes ONE round to zero a rifle at any distance if you know what you are doing. It usually takes me a second round to fine tune and a third to confirm. One round should put you in the 9 or 10 ring though.

Thanks for the responses look forward to getting out there in the next few days!

I'm zeroing at 25 on this AR build to be spot on (hopefully) from 25-100 with the irons. Just figured it was easier seeing the target at 25 instead of zeroing at 100.... That's the theory anyways!:o

OK, with irons I can't do it with one shot because, it's too hard to keep the gun perfectly still while making adjustments to the sites. So, don't fell bed if it takes you 5-10 shots to get it right.

You are going to be way high at 100y, if you zero at 25y:

Hmmm maybe I got some bad info... I thought zeroing at 25 should be good to 100 and zeoring at 50 should be good to 200...BUT according to that chart it looks like zeroing at 50 would be the way to go.

I'll be using XM193s as well...thanks for that chart! Gotta look into that more.

IIRC the military teaches to initially zero the M-16 at 25 yards...no sight picture adjustment needed for man sized targets out to, as the chart shows, 375 + yards.
Aiming at the belt line at 400+ yards will still get a hit in the groin.

If you are usually shooting at 25-50-100 yards at smaller targets then you can zero to your preferred distance.

No stell core ammo at angeles. If bullet is magnetic they will get on you and take away till done shooting or invite you to leave.

Yep, before you head out there check the projectiles in your ammo with a magnet. If it sticks and you try to use it at Angeles, the ROs will confiscate it until you leave the facility. They receive bonus pay for the ammo they confiscate, so don't even try to sneak any in.

Crowesnest,

If you leave and get there early in the morning like I did. So you have to wait for an hour but you can use that time to pickand set-up your own table of your choosing. Then about maybe one half hour before the offficial shoot you can pay and get your target ready to put out.

Like to others have said don't go by the map on the internet as you can shoot and sight in your rifle at 25 yards if you want. For myself I prefer to sight in mine at 50 yards but shoot as close as possible to get everything on paper. All you have to do is put the target frame in the log and drag it in close to the range you want but there's no markers to tell you the exact range. That's why I went to Bass Pro shops and bought an inexpensive laser range finder for about $100.

One last thing..... Don't bother with Burro! They don't compare to Angeles range for serious bench rest shooting.

Do it the right way and the RO knows that you basically hooked him up with a bonus. Helps to get on the good side of the ROs that way.
