I have a question that I was wondering if you guys can help me.
My buddy has a empty/stripped 870 remington receiver that he wants to get rid of and I would like to buy it from him to replace mine because it's pretty beat up. Do we have to go through an FFL dealer to do the transfer? I know you do for a rifles or handguns but is it the same for shotguns too?

Yep, basically any gun transfer (w/exception for curio & relic and blackpowder, and some interfamily transfers) has to go thru an FFL.

The receiver = a gun here.
