J&G is in AZ so shipping might be less expensive. I got a spam can of 440 for about $93, but I picked it up in person.

My bad, I didn't know Yugo was non magnetic. Live & learn.

Copes has top notch stock and ships fast and like the above says, $7.95 flat rate shipping. That's what you need. Will be ordering some this week for our forest needs; good nonmagnetic source and good all around ammo. Worth the price for sure.

As far as I know, the yugo is the ONLY surplus 54R that will pass ASR's magnet test...

Angeles sells 7.62 x 54r Wolf Gold and Prvi P ammo, so you could use those as well.

The subject matter of this this thread alone is probably the reason I will ditch my Mosin-Nagant.

I dont understand? Because finding range safe ammo isnt that easy? I have been reloading for my M39, but its hard to pass up a loaded range round for $0.27 when Im spending more than twice that to load my own.

There is still plenty of good old Russian tins to buy at great prices. Buy a few tins and you will have enough ammo to fight off two or three Zombie hoards before having to restock :p

I got a few replies, didn't expect that. :D Allow me to clarify:

My 'ditch the Mosin' mantra will kick in when I run out of my Yugo lead core ammo. (about 1200 rounds still, might be a while). The reason for the statement was because today at the Glendale gun show I didn't see any lead core 'range friendly' rounds that were cost effective. That doubled with the drama around AB962.. I can't guarantee the ability to order ammo online in the future. I know... call me crazy. But at some point, the supply / demand curve of the range friendly ammunition isn't going to be worth it for a $139 Big5 M38.

I have a tin of Russian rounds... and can't shoot it because of the magnet nazis. I don't reload for a multitude of reasons I won't go into here. So there, that's why I said what I did.

burro allows magnetic ammo once rainy season kicks in and the forest service a-oks it. and well BLM always allows it, plus out of state ranges. i know the range out in Vegas won't mind due to it being in the middle of desert with nothing to burn.

Good to know, I'll have to check those out. Where is BLM?

BLM is bureau of land management, or in other words public land/the desert

http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en.html
some info here, and just check around the shooting meets section for when people post up about going. i think the closest public land for shooting is near barstow area?

Yeah I get all that. But if you already have one, I think its well worth it to just hang onto the rifle and some ammo. They dont sell for a whole bunch anyway.

But on the other hand looks like you already have an AR, and you can get a nice ammo pile by trading in your Yugo & Mosin.....
