When I was a kid, my father and I would go 'bunny bustin' in so AZ with his nylon 66. Walk around, fluch a cottontail or jack, and pop..pop..pop..pop..roll the little suckers.

I have never done this in CA, but there seems to be a huge rabbit population this year, based on the news and the number of carcasses on the highway.

I have been told that some of CA is shotgun-only for rabbits, anybody know where?

(Yes, I have a CA hunting license, but I really only use it for dove hunting)

You can shoot BIRD SHOT in a 22LR wherever you can shoot a shotgun, its not a solid projectile after all...

Put 3 rounds in the rifle w/the rest being shotshells, if someone approaches you dump the 3 rounds and all thats left is shotshells.... I like the CCI ones.

I shot three jacks this morning, and there does seem to be a lot more out this year. This one was taken with the 10/22 when he jumped in front of the tractor.

We hunt them quite a bit and I have used .223, 7.62x39, .22LR, .45ACP and 12 g. There is a ton of them out right now where we went (sorry I have to keep it to myself) but its good. We had to stop because we got so many on the last trip. Nothing lke posting up and making them splat at 300 yards
