I bought several surplus (cleaning tool) puches a while ago and never bothered trying to identify this item. It is not for a Mosin (Finnish or Russian), beyond that?

what is the muzzle diameter?, that might help determine caliber

whatever it goes to, the gun has a fairly thin sight post instead of a large sight block. So it rules out a lot of things

Fits over the various Russian and Romanian Mosins, but not over the heay barreled Finnish M39. I have not tried the various Enfields, as it is clearly not for them. I am assuming Mauser of some sort.

Cool, thanks Milsurp Collector. Now I just need a Yugo Mauser to go with it...don't laugh, that's how I bought my Spanish FR8 (bayonet-then-carbine), now it's my favorite shooter.:D

It's made for Mausers. I have one and I use it everytime I clean my Yugo Mauser. It works on K98's too.
