Question: does the lower need to be modified for .308 rounds? What kind of magazine? Thanks.

You need a lower designed for 308. You can't convert a 223 to fire 308. Right now the Har-25 is your best bet.

You can shoot .308 bullets out of a special upper on a regular AR-15 lower, but it is not 7.62 x 51.

".300 Whisper" and you have to form cases, handload all ammo, and the bullets can only be pushed 1/2 as fast.

The only AR-15 lower that may accept .308 upper is Cobb (about $1200 just for the lower) or MGI which is not available at this point.

You can get a Bushmaster .308, if you can find one. Or wait for the RRA LAR-10 coming out in July.

The .308 round is longer than the AR15 mag well, so... it would be quite difficult to *modify* an off-the-shelf AR15 receiver to do that..... and the commerical "modification" solution is called AR10.... :D

AH, IC...makes sense...but the .458 SOCOM should work without modification right?

Yes the .458 SOCOM will fit in AR magazines single stacked. It might be better to choose the .50 beowulf though as the ammo is a little more common, unless your going to reload.

Gah I forgot 22lr. *smack* You beat me Ted. The reason I didn't list calibers like 7.62X39 is that they wont work in AR mags thus no way to properly feed them. Thats where the MGI lower would come in if it wasn't practically vaporware. If I'm mistaken and there is a way, let me know.

MWG makes 10 round 7.62x39 mags that fit the AR 15

Ah, your right. Funny thing is I have one of those MWG 10 round .223 mags. I forgot they made one for 7.62X39.

The thing to remember about the RRA LAR 10, first, when I talked to them they said most likely not until August. Second is that they WILL NOT be AR 10 compatible. You will only be able to use RRA parts and uppers on them. So your choices are still very limited right now.

I just shot my har25 for the first time i have a 24" stainless bbl upper and a 20" stainless A2 Setup. I like it very much!! my setup will fit armalite / egal uppers and shoots like a dream. 10 rounds 3 steel siloets, alternating targets 150 yards 8 out of 10 hits in 10 secconds. I love that rifle!

I brought up the idea a while ago for a side 10 round magazine(using FN-FAL or Springfield M1A mags) fed bolt-action 7.62 NATO upper that would fit on a regular AR-15 lower for when you really want to reach out and touch something!:)

It would be similiar to the Ultra-Mag 50 upper( http://www.ultramag50.com/ ), but chambered in 7.62 NATO!

Omigod...there really is an AR15FRANCE.com.
http://ar15france.com/forums/
Do they slam themselves like AR15.com slams the French?

I bet they have some great deals in the Arffrance.com EE, "Used Rifle, only dropped once!". :D;)

Cobb actually had this listed on his website for a while, then it disappeared. Never saw a prototype.

Take Care,

Tony

I think the 300 SAUM requires a .308 length lower. If I'm wrong, I'd like to know.

I don't believe it does, here are the dimensions, minus the bullet though. http://stevespages.com/jpg/cd300remingtonsaum.jpg

300 Rem SAUM case length, at 2.015", is the same as .308 Winchester. SAUM stands for Short Action Ultra Mag, in which "short action" means .308 length.

SBRs and Suppressors are not regulated like they are here... Pistols are more highly regulated, but sound suppressors reduce noise pollution and in most european countries owning one is a good thing. ;)
