I love seeing these. I've always lusted after K31s, bought one, then had the DMV pull a review on me unannounced, and have DROS rejected... Now I'm waiting for my CA ID and to restart process. These pics are perfect for sating the longings for mine. :notworthy:

It's been a long time since I recall seeing a K31 thread. Did you refinish the stock because it looks darker than any other K31 I have ever seen. I love my K31 and wish I could shoot it more often. There are not many firearms which I would ever consider owning more than one. But the K31 is just such a sweet rifle and I would like to add more to my collection.

BTW, I have seen a lot of pictures over the years, some good some bad. Your's are exceptional. Great job.

Thanks guys, all the pics were taken on my phone ;) The stock pretty much came to me like that. It was a Corporals rifle so I'm not sure how much action it saw

my k31s are my favorite rifles. at 300yrds against the metal silhouttes i never miss, cant say that about any other rifle i have. even am ok at up to 500yds. the action is so sweet, the trigger like a target rifle.

Next I need some Diopter sights, anyone know which sights can be used in most vintage rifle matches?

The Carmel Gun Club holds several 300m Swiss rifle matches every spring, using Swiss military targets, courses of fire, and sends your scores to Switzerland for medals. Some matches also include 50m pistol courses of fire. Most matches are followed by a BBQ or other communal meal. It's a lot of fun and you just have to get up early -it's south of Salinas and squadding for relays occurs by 8:30AM.

Most CGC shooters use the original W+F diopters (Waffenfabrik Bern) but others are very pleased with the US made St. Marie sights, which are a bit less expensive, readily available, and a bit more adjustable.

It's hard to believe the Swiss were really going to take such fine weapons into battle. It's like driving a Bently across country.

The Swiss defensive plan was taken from the French; there would have been one more ding in buttstock, from dropping it.

SJ Mosin, after 10 years and 7 proto-types, these finally received full approval from the Swiss Gunsmith's Association for use in all Swiss Sanctioned Shoots world wide just last December.

They're good from 100 yards right out to 1,000 yards. The first 1,000 yarder ever made without having to change rails.

The Carmel Gun Club also uses our Diopters.

I should have read more closely! I just noticed that Swiss gave us a plug! Thanks! :D

Can you provide some more info on this approval? Doesn't SSV (http://www.fst-ssv.ch/DesktopDefault.aspx)or Schweizer Armee determine which equipment is permitted? Thanks.

Edit: I'm not suggesting you're incorrect, I just always thought such approvals come from the Swiss Army since matches almost always include Army courses of fire.

Yep. SSV. Our distributor in Switzerland owns AFA and he spent four years working on this approval. He finally got it for us. :)
An aside note: ALL of the Diopters submitted "disappeared" into the SSV. :D Even the last one, the Type P/S steel Diopter disappeared. I was told its considered "bad form" to ask that they be returned, so about 7 SSV members have our Diopters gratis. That's ok with us. :D
