I just moved out here from Minnesota and will be going back to bring all my firearms out here.

I have.
1 smith and wesson .357
1 Sig p229 .40
1 AR Lower

Am I required to register any of these?

Also am I able to purchase any firearms with my MN state ID?

You need to register your handguns. If there are any other handguns you ever want to buy I'd suggest to get them before you move because CA residents are limited to http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/

Make sure your AR is an Off List Lower (OLL) according to CA AW. Don't bring any large capacity (more than 10) magazines.
http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/forms/pdf/awguide.pdf Start on page 72 concerning your AR.

You cannot purchase any firearms with your MN issued ID card.

Unless your AR lower is considered an assault weapon by CA, your fine. Not knowing the make/model I can't give you an answer to that.

As for the handguns...individuals moving to CA are exempt from the roster...but if your magazines can hold more than ten rounds (p229 has both 10 or 13 round mags) you have an issue. See here for more info:

Thanks, it's just a Spikes lower. I assume I need to remove the mag release and install a bullet button.

Also I am allowed to purchase a long rifle from a CA resident legally with my MN ID?

Your MN ID will do nothing for you in CA.

Yes on the BB.

You will need a CA DL, CA ID or active duty .mil ID with orders for CA.

Stay in MN - I wish I had..... :)

One other idea - if you are wanting to buy any handguns soon, find out if they can't be bought here. Some stuff you can't buy here but you can bring them in if you just moved here. Don't expect to build up your collection cheaply in CA.

You can't buy with a MN ID except in MN. This is a federal law. You must be a resident of the state you are buying in with that states ID. Like said above, the exception is current, active military with orders to a CA posting. Then you can use your out-of-state ID and orders to purchase.

If it is just a Spike's lower, then you don't need to do anything to it. If it is a complete Spike's lower with a centerfire upper, then it needs a Bullet Button. If it is a complete lower without an upper, it doesn't need a Bullet Button. You could always put a .22 LR upper on it and it wold be legit.
