Different uppers for different applications. SS is generally for precision with a shorter life span.

Is the extra $66 worth it? I don't intend to shoot thousands of rounds, it would be primarily a SHTF/HD rifle.

Take your pick !!! Both are gtg. The CMMG's stainless might be better for the money imo.

Get the Spike's. It's the right fit for your intended purpose.

The CMMG doesn't look like it comes with a BCG.

SS barrel + free float rails to me equals more than $70 value.

Does that CMMG even come with a BCG? That's another $140 or so to spend on it if it doesn't. That deal sounds too good to include a BCG.

It comes with it. How much shorter of a lifespan do you get with SS vs chrome?

CMMG's come with the bolt/carrier. Theoretically chrome will resist throat erosion for a greater number of rounds fired, but if you don't shoot competition, then it's not an issue. Central Missouri Machine Gun makes high quality AR's and supports the shooting sports.
