It's unfortunate that you voted for an anti-gun governor, but thank you for casting your vote against Boxer.

What specific information on gun control, other than being a Republican, made you decide on Whitman?

I voted my conscience which means I voted for neither Brown or Whitman. I also refused to vote for Abel Maldonado due his voting for a tax increase three years ago. And then I called their campaign offices and let them know. There will never be change unless we take the steps to get in their faces and tell them no more business as usual.

They're all getting it from the ebay policies that changed under her command. I'm still not convinced that she is anti gun. I'm pretty sure she's not pro gun. And I'm sure that she has a pretty similar mindset to many who are unfamiliar with guns. I am convinced that Brown is anti gun, even though so many here say otherwise. Anyways...

I agree. I would rather have Meg who is neither for nor against guns then Jerry Brown. I know he is against guns. Don't know where CG got this propaganda that Brown is for guns..I also believe that Meg will do a better job with our budget then Brown who has failed already.

And are you happy with our current Republican gov. Who has signed in to law several anti gun laws?

Whitman - Brown. Not enough difference on the gun issue to to get excited about. The NRA actually rated Whitman higher than Brown.

Neither is a good choice and that's what sux, It's ridiculous that a State this size can't produce a better candidate.

Voted Ogden, Fiorina and Cooley for the big three. Also voted Pam Brown for Lt Gov and Dunn for Sec of State. I simply could not in good conscience vote R or D for Gov as they both suck. :(

Mike's Custom

When Brown was in office he never passed a firearms restriction. He also vetoed the CA helemt law citing that every time the Helmet Law appeared on the ballot it was defeated by a large margin and the people of CA did not want the helmet law. The helemt law was always defeated on he ballot by 70-80 of the voters and Brown backed the voters.

Remember ARNOLD said he was a republican and was pro firearms then he proceeded to vote for every firearm restriction bill that crossed his desk and spent money like a 3rd generation welfare'r after hitting the lottery.

My choices as well. Same thing happened for me, went Libertarian on Governor, because I couldn't choose between a Democrat that is endorsed by Obama, vs. a pseudo, unproven "conservative" anti-gun eBay CEO.

The big problem is when folks ONLY see the R & D as the choice. I voted for McLintock (sp?) for Gov during our last election. My wife gave me grief but I was proven correct in my decision during this last term. Wife even admits that she voted incorrectly ;) How many wives admit to ANY thing they did incorrectly? :D

Yea, well Brown's mission is to over turn Prop 13, which will mean you won't have the $$ to buy guns anyway, assuming you actually own a home. A conservative voter is pretty much damned in this state no matter what.

+2 for Meg. :)

M1A has a very valid point. Even if Brown was the most extremely pro 2A person in the country, his economic policies will end up making many Californians choose between groceries or their guns. When the wife and kids are hungary, you can't tell me the firearms aren't going to be put up for sale. I refer to this as Economic Gun Control.

That, and Jerry Brown admits he lied last time he was governor and had no plan for California:

AIlzYD4tk78

Yeah, go ahead and vote for this clown just because of some past history. How long do you think that you are going to be able to afford guns & ammo if he become governor?

Well, I have a pretty good head start on the gun-buying, and I built my home a couple years ago, so it's already appraised in the "Ow! My Balls!" tax bracket. ;)

Hmm, where have you been?

He was against prop 13 when it passed years ago. His current stance on prop 13 has also been discussed this morning on the KSFO morning show, which reports he is still against it.

He was governor back in the 70's and he ran the state into the ground then.

He was Mayor of Oakland several years ago, and did nothing to improve that s-hole.

His actual track record sucks. I don't understand those that believe what someone says, yet their actions are contrary.

I think it is you sir, that may have an issue voting with someone with an "R" after their name. Hmm, you must be union.

He has stated in interviews that the CA property tax rate is too low. A statement which ignores the fact that CA has higher property values so they/we pay more irregardless of the tax rate. Browns statements would mean the repeal of Prop 13, no other way around it.

I voted for Whitman also. Unless the assembly and senate get a demographic change I really don't see any legislative victories for pro guns people. All of our right are going to have to be restored in the courts, which is another reason I voted for Whitman. I think the Judges she appoints will be far better (or at least less ruinous) then Browns.

Which ever side in this argument wins, I hope that the fears of the other will prove to be wrong... :)

I voted for Meg as well... It's the lesser of two evils and I would rather say my State sucks a little bit less than it would if i didn't vote the way I did.

Meg says she want's to keep gun laws as they are and that's not perfect but it's better than a negative change. Moonbeam is a rambling idiot as far as I am concerned and will end up just raising our taxes and keep spending the same. I would much rather have my home, and my job than a 30rd Magazine or a full automatic weapon that I would rarely ever use.

I know this forum is focused on guns but there is a lot more to worry about than 2nd when it comes to voting. Keep the money away from politicians and they won't be able to make as many laws... Hell, the best thing we could do as a state is go to a part time legislature like Texas... but good luck getting that to pass.

There is a lot more to the political process than guns. People are out of work, out of their homes, face a very dark future and they are pissed at the people who put them there. Voting against the establishment sends a message. Whether it is heard or acted upon by or lawmakers and public servants is doubtful. If whitman gets in I don't think she will be any more effective than Scharzenegger. Both sides will hate her and do everything they can to stymie her efforts to run the state like a successful business.

Let's face it, we really had no one running for governor on the Republican side that we could rally behind. I didn't view Poisner as a real choice.

The reality is the republican party in this state does not have the capability to run statewide races.

Both Carly and Meg pretty much self funded their campaigns.

The Republican party will have to be rebuilt from the ground up and the party will have to have a only a few key values etched in stone statewide and they will have to give each region wide latitude on everything else.

I won't compromise on gun rights, but I have held my nose on many other issues.

We can sit back and sulk or we can learn what went wrong so that in future elections we get better candidates to choose from.

Less than 30 percent of the population who can vote does vote in the primaries.

If we built coalitions of conservatives/libertarians who would support Constitutionalist candidates, we would have a chance at getting people we could vote for.

I really think CA Gov is a race that should be voted on for reasons other than 2A issues. Why? Because the plain and simple fact is that until you change the LEGISLATURE in this state, the ONLY way things are going to get better for 2A issues is through the COURTS.

I just don't think either one of these nutballs will change anything related to
2A no matter what their intentions are.

There is a lot more to the political process than guns. But generally if someone isn't good on that issue there's not anything else good about them in total. If they don't respect my ability to defend my life, in public or at home by the manner of my choosing, they cannot claim to respect anything else. Where they're from or where they're running for office is ZERO excuse. Sorry, but it's really that simple. You're either pro gun, pro carry rights, anti AWB or you're a worthless piece of sewer slime, no exception or excuse.
