That's the story anyway:

Somehow I don't think we know the full story...

A shot in the dark with an impending knee jerk reaction...

There have been other, real incidents of this happening.

If you're prone to sleepwalking it's a good idea to lock up your guns. I once knew a guy that would cook when he sleepwalked. If you can cook, you can load and fire a gun.

I don't think I've ever sleep walked, but that's why the gun I keep near my bed typically doesn't have a round in the chamber- I have to take it out of the holster, take off the safety, and rack the slide to use it. I find it unlikely I'd do that in my sleep.

Not enough information to really say for sure, but it sounds like he probably sleeps with a firearm with a chambered round. Chalk it up to a ND.

Next time they say "learn karate", tell them you might kick someone in your sleep if you do. :)

Remember that recent poll on sleeping with a gun under the pillow? This is why not.

The poll says it all.

Probably not a good idea.

Another reason I'm glad I don't move in my sleep.

I think this kind of bang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_sex) is much more preferable to wake up to.

They still allow handgun ownership in the "People's Republic of Boulder"? That's the really shocking part of the story.

If you can cook, load and fire a gun, you can open a safe, too.

It has happened before and it will happen again. Putting a loaded gun under your pillow is a bad idea and people have shot themselves with it accidentally.

There are people such as this that should simply not own a firearm or have somebody else lock the gun up and not give them the key or combination.
