I'm looking for a good AK47 to purchase. As background I have a Norinco Mak-90 and a bulgarian AK-47. Both excellent rifles. I've also owned an Egyptian AK-47 which was a piece of crap. I'd like to avoid bad AK-47's and I'm a little hesistant based on some of the AK variant rifles I've been seeing turning up at Turners, etc. Any one have any suggestions?

Thanks!

You could have one built for you from a couple different 07's.

or you can build one at a build party.

+1 for the Saiga

Made in Russia, by people that know AK's. Can always be upgraded to a AK configuration as funds become available. In my humble opinion, the best way is to buy a parts kit, a flat and build it yourself at a "build party". You will learn SO much more, than if you purchase an off the shelf rifle.

I've seen that in their Flyer. It says its a Romanian, GP WASR

I've also been wanting to buy an AK.

Does anyone know if this a good brand?

If you want a "quality" AK check out;

If you want a budget AK, check out;

Personally, I like the AK platform. Simple easy to handle and clean and ammo is cheap! If I had an AR style rifle first, I probably would have never had a 7.62 x 39 rifle (Saiga).

thanks for the advice - typically how much do Saiga's run? Is there anything to look out for? Where can I get a Saiga in So Cal?

WASRs are considered to be some of the lower end AKs. Some of them have mag fitting issues and canted sights.

I believe the ones in Turners are single stack only. You would have to double check on it.

Anything except for a WASR.

IMO, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Chinese, and Yugos are the nicest AKs out there.
