First off, I'd like to thank Mark from Socal-Arms for helping me through the process. I really appreciate the time and effort!

Ok, after reading, re-reading through all the threads that I made up on here regarding my first rifle I finally decided to make my move and get the parts that I needed to do my first build.

I am unfortunately, still waiting on my CA DL license to be delivered to me so I can get the lower receiver. For now, this is what I've gotten. Suggestion and comments are appreciated. Once this is put together, I will post some pics.

- BLK MAGPUL MBUS FRONT FLIP SIGHT
- MAGPUL MBUS REAR FLIP SIGHT
- Bullet Button
- Daniel Defense 7.62 Lite Rail 9 inch
- DPMS 16" .308 AP4 Barrel
- Carbine length gas tube
- DPMS .308 A3 Receiver
- DPMS .308 Bolt Carrier Group Complete
- DPMS .308 AP4 Carbine Stock Assembly
- DPMS .308 Lower Parts Kit

I already got the mags for it and I know that I'd probably want to get a compensator. Anyway, this is what I have for now.

Any suggestion for a lower?

I thing this lower is DPMS compatible. Best looking .308 lower I've seen.

Yes, That is DPMS compatible, but it wouldn't look half as nice bolted to a DPMS upper. The DPMS upper doesn't have all the matching hexigons on it.

I forgot about the TM lowers. They look good too.

What's with their 7.62x39 lower? Is that just for a caliber marking, or is it a different magazine well?

Now I heard that I have to go to the dealer myself in order to get the lower, am I correct?

I live in the Valley, in LA. Is there a TM dealer that is close to me or do I have to drive down quite a bit. I don't mind either way.

Not exactly...

You can order online from California friendly vendors. They will ship to your local FFL and you can pick up from them to begin DROS.

I paid for mine at TM and had it shipped to T&A Armory in Santa Ana. Other FFLs will do the transfer for you. You just gotta find them. Maybe TM have a list of FFLs the do biz with around your area.

EDIT: Also find out how much they'll charge for the x-fer.

Oh awesome! Then I will look into TM and see if they can do the transfer! I am really nervous about putting this all together.. but I am excited about shooting. About to order me a few hundred rounds from CTD and go shooting on November.

It should be the same lower except for the markings, however it would be kinda cool if the magwell was contoured specific for a 762x39 type mag

Arrgh!! Why is my CA ID taking so long to get here?! I hope I get it before all the other parts get in. I'd like to shoot now please.

Here it is, my first AR-10 Build. Kinda having some issues: One my magazine is having a hard time getting locked in there. Its the right mag and TM even confirms it but it takes great effort to get it locked on. Secondly, I had to hammer in the back half with a rubber mallet for the upper and lower top be married up and get locked in. I am thinking its the fact that TM didn't shave the portion all the way in. I hope there is a solution for this. Here are some pics'

Any recommendation for a 4x optics? unfortunately a Trijicon Acog is not within my budget at the moment.
