Being in the Concord my home range is USI, which happens to be closed on Tuesdays, so me and a buddy loaded up and decided to check out Chabot...
which we found out was closed as well...

We probably shoulda figured it out when there were almost no other cars there,
but watching a bunch of guys firing M4 type rifles in full auto tipped us off.

I really wanted to hang out and take a closer look, but when they spotted us they didnt look too pleased, and far be it from me to intrude on a group of people with full auto weapons.

So while we didnt get too shoot, Id say the trip was almost worth it.

Yeah I know, not that great of a story I just felt like sharing :o

Isn't Chabot primarily used for LEO training with civilian plinking as an aside?

Why didn't you go up to the and inform them of the law? You know, to make sure they knew that FA is not legal..

Why didn't you ask them if you could try it out? Hehe. Also does Chabot allow rapidfire? I know that USI doesn't

I thought it was a public range. Is it actually closed certain days for LEO use only?

Sort of a public range. Check it: http://www.chabotgunclub.com/

Click on hours. Chabot is apparently only open to the public Mon, Fri, Sat, and Sun. I'm guessing the other three days are for LEO training only.

Iirc these guys were sherifs. According to the rso there they do get military as well as leo.

And not only did they have fa rifles, but I'm pretty sure they had hi caps and no bullet buttons :D

we do certainly attract many looks when we go to a public range with full autos (ar15, mp5), suppresed weapons and other toys. but sadly I do not personally own any of these things. :63:

ACSO, and Hayward PD both have their own range and Chabot ain't it. That could have been a number of agencies, maybe East Bay Park and Rec has FA guns they were playing with.
