Hey guys. I have an Otis kit for cleaning my AR. I bought the chamber brush from riflegear and when I tried using it I found out my rod rotates and makes it impossible to use the brush.

Just wondering what you guys are using to clean the chambers and if using a brush what rods are you using?

I have only ever used the surplus steel sectional rods, for as long as I can remember. If you use those and spin clockwise, it wont unthread...

Qtips, pipe cleaners, and sore fingers. Don't need no stinking brush. :p

The chamber brush is supposed to rotate in the chamber. At least that is what the taught me in boot camp.

I think what op means is that his cleaning rod has a bearing, preventing the brush from rotating...

Mine does the same. I push it in a couple times to loosen stuff up a bit, then clean with q tips.

I made my own T handle one out of 1/4" stainless rod. Drill and tap the end, weld a 4" secton on the end for a T and you got something easy to turn.

You bend them and approach the chamber from below the upper receiver. :)

The Dewey fits the bill to a T. That and an O-ring bore guide make life easier.
