Wait, for clarity, if Im going with a pistol grip and a BB w/ 10 round mag, am I limited on what type of upper I can have? Muzzle breaks, flash hiders etc?

No, you just have to have an overall barrell length of 16"

Buy all you want.

Just remember to follow state and federal laws.

Just remember that any evil features require you to run a BB with no more than a 10 round magazine.

Yep, meaning that if you want one listed as a 14.5, it will need the muzzle device pinned / welded on to make it permanently attached. Or just go with a 16"+ upper and feel free to swap brake / flash hiders. No need to worry about bayonet lugs, apparently they don't kill puppies in California. :p

(2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

So, Get a Bullet Button, a 10rnd Mag and make sure your rifle is longer (at its shortest setting) than 30".

A flash comp that is not permanately fixed to the barrel does not count towards the overall length, it must be pinned or welded.

There is a ton of info here to learn all this stuff, there is a stick

read through it, no sense risking a felony, prison time and a life long ban of your right to arm bears, because you forgot to pin your flash comp on your 14.5" rifle.
