I got my buttstock assy today and I have a question. Is the buffer detent supposed to come with it? Is it supposed to come with my lower parts kit? Or do I have to buy it separately?? Thanx in advance guys.

Cool, but I already have a LPK. Guess I have to get one separately. Bummer....thought I was ready to put my lower together. My LPK is a RRA btw.

It "should" be in the LPK. But I have been waiting a week for them to send me a missing part from an LPK.

I'll check tomorrow, too lazy to check right now. If it's there then it's AR build time this weekend. (I have no clue what I'm doing)

brownells and youtube, pretty much step by step walk you through it.

supposed to be with your lpk,but it wouldnt be the first time something was missing. take your time during the build, its not hard but little details like an upside down spring, wrong spring, etc can be a pain.

It looks kind of like a nipple.

looks like this.. when you thread the buffer in place it should sit over the base with only the nipple sticking up..

Comes in the LPK but why wait to get one sent from the company when you can get one any any decent black rifle shop... ?

You can build and use your AR now, it doesn't need the buffer retainer to function. But you should order one to make breaking down the rifle more convenient.

It'll function ... but it won't necessarily be happy about it. My LPK was missing the buffer retainer, and since it was my first build I didn't even notice that it was missing. I shot the rifle a fair bit, but there was always some sort of roughness in the action. Thought it was normal. Couple weeks ago, a friend of mine with vastly more AR knowledge than me took a look at it. He pulled the charging handle back, let it go, and without a single other check of the rifle said "you're missing the buffer detent, aren't you?"

We found a spare and put it in, and ... suddenly everything was a lot nicer.
