I bought a MAK 90 in the early 90's. When CA passed the assault rifle ban, I decided to give it to my sister who resides in NV, in lieu of registering it with the state. Is there a way I can bring this weapon back to CA?

nope, since you did not register it with the State as a AW

At this point in time... NO! it is on the "Kasler List" on prohibited AW if not already registered as such...

If you really want the gun - Have it built on an OLL rec. -

I thought MAK 90 receivers were different from regular AK lowers, making it difficult to interchange. If so what OLL rec would he have to get?

I didn't think about that option. That is an interesting question. I would love to know if that is possible!
Thanks again for the help. I appreciate it!

Chinese receivers are thicker 1.5mm and the rivets are different size
I was able to get my hands on Armory USA receivers and built a couple
AKbuilder.com is going to be putting out a flat someday so you might want to shoot him an email and bug him a little

That is definitely an option that I have thought about. She is in Reno. But, I'm not sure how to go about it. If you know.... I would love to hear about.

An option is to sell it and buy a Ca legal AK. You could bring the parts back minus the lower receiver and build it or sell the parts as a "parts kit".
