Some 264Win mag to see how my new barrel shoots. Just some 140gr mild loads.

Had to reseat some 55gr Hornady SX 223 loads for the new barrel on my varmit rifle. It has a shorter throat than the old worn out one. If the shorter rounds work better then I have a bunch of time to spend reseating the 6,500 rounds I made up before getting it rebarreled. :(

Put together my first 15 9mm rounds:

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c16/xlive2grindx/reloads_zpscaebe1a3.jpg
I used data in my Speer manual. Starting out with 4.1 grains of "Titegroup" with Wolf primers, Berry's 115 gr. round nose at an o.a.l. of 1.135. The small cylinder assembly for my RCBS Uniflow probably won't come in until September(I'm on a 4 month back-order) so thought I'd just see how consistent the large cylinder is. Works pretty well! I'm going to try 4.2-4.4 and then we'll see how consistent it is while making 100 rounds. The micrometer stem for the Uniflow is tempting.

I started about 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. 50 1X fired 338 Lapua Brass, Measured Shoulder then lubed (Dillon) Full Sized and trimmed (I only use Redding Dies). Cycled them through my TRG 42 338 Lapua Magnum. A few sticking. Measured shoulder again to see if I need to bump it back. Sure enough needed a .02 Bump, cycled again they went through the action like silk. Neck sized and deprimed then cycled one more time More Silk. Cleaned flash hole and cleaned the neck. Measured Brass 2.714 case length. Time for the Tumbler for about an hour. At this point I measure projectiles with a caliper and 2 comporators. One from OGIVE (top) and another from the bottom, this gives me the best measurement. I sort the matching projectiles accordingly. Took my brass out from the tumbler, put on my latex Gloves on, and assembled the brass on a tray and proceeded to prime ( making sure I don't touch the primer, Brass or projectiles with my bare hands). All the finished brass is loaded onto a tray and is ready for loading powder. I use a RCBS charge Master 1500 and fill it with the powder that I have worked up. Turn on the 1500 and start to calibrate, install the McDonalds straw inside the trickler so it gives me a very accurate powder charge. Dispense powder, when finished I dump powder back into powder tube and dispense again, making sure I get the exact powder charge. I back up the 1500 with my trusty Tanita scale. I load my brass with powder and and move on to my press. One by one I seat the projectiles with a Redding Competition Micrometer die and measure everyone with a caliper attached with a Sinclair Bump tube and a 338 Ogive comporator. Once I am satisfied with my measurements from Ogive to bottom of case, I put them in a container and mark then accordingly. OFF TO MOJAVE.

I used to weight each cartridge, but since I worked up my loads in 9mm and .223, I visually inspect each one as the cases are pretty full (as the powder-check came REAL quiet out of the box when it arrived) in the empty stage (stage #3, normally powder check) with a usb powered snake-light that illuminates station 3 from the top of the press. Luckily, the only squib I have had so far was from a double-hand-me-down load from the '80s, that were handed down to him.

20 rounds of 40-65 smokeless powder reloads.
315 gr. cast wheel weight lead + some soft lead roofing flashing, Old West Bullet Mould, Hornady gas check, lubrisized to .412"; seated over 21 gr. SR 4759 powder; using neck annealed, re-sized 2.10" 45-70 WW cases and a .410" neck expander button, Fed 210 primers.
I seated these to the second groove of bullet, just short of engaging the rifling for easy chambering and hopefully, good groups!
For the Marlin 1895 (circa 1898) lever action.
Chronographed velocity about 1475 fps with this load in this particular rifle.

Just finished a batch of 25 .243 80gr TTSX testers, from these I'll see which groups the best and that'll be my Wyoming deer/antelope load.
Also loaded up 100 rounds of 300 win mag. Light loads just to fireform the new to me once fired brass to my rifles chamber. Kind of a shame too, somebody spent some time truing up the necks and such.

I did a fair amount of prep today. Mostly ... I went to the Cow Palace gun show, and purchased .... components of course!

I will be heading on over to the Los Altos Gun Club range on Sunday to chrono some test loads using the .45 ACP and some REX powder. REX is made by NitroKemia in Hungary.

I managed to snag a bunch of this since my older brother is getting out of reloading all together. He had a huge stash of this stuff and it was sitting in his garage for the last few years.

After 5 months of waiting, the RCBS Uniflow small cylinder assembly finally came back in stock so I tried it out today. Thing is pretty darn consistent! Very happy with it's performance. Started my first .38 special loads with it. 20 rounds total.
Components:
Brass: CCI Blazer
Bullet: HSM .358" flat-round nose lead bullet(158 grains)
Primer: Wolf small pistol
Powder: IMR Trail Boss

The starting load on Hogdon's site said the starting load is 2.7 but I wanted to start at 3. I went with: 3, 3.3, 3.6 and 3.9 grain loads(Max was 4.2, I think). I just seated it to the cannelure and roll crimped. I hope the indoor range doesn't mind lead bullets.

I had some 30 test loads in 9mm luger from a few weeks ago so thought I'd finish loading up another 20 with the small cylinder assembly. I had 15 of 4.1 grains and 15 of 4.2 so I did 10 of 4.3 and 4.4 tonight. Max load in the Speer manual was 4.5.

Brass: Mixed once or twice fired.
Bullet: Berry's .356" 115 grain round nose plated.
Primer: Wolf small pistol.
Powder: Hodgdon Titegroup
OAL goal: 1.135"

I dicked up two rounds in the 4.3 grain pile. I wasn't paying attention after getting to the right seating depth and screwed the seater die to crimp without backing out the seater plug. I believe they were at about 1.11". Should I pull and re-seat or are they ok? Heh, I had forgotten I dropped a case filled with powder before seating as well so I think I actually have nine rounds with 4.3 grains of powder instead of ten.

Save your reloading time for making higher-end rounds using premium bullets. For more casual shooting ammo, unless you have a time-saving progressive press, it's hard to beat factory prices when you factor in your effort.

200 rounds of 223 with 23.2 grains h335 under hornady 55 fmjbt w/c for my mini 14 target model

200+ rounds of 223 with 24.5 grains h335 under hornady 55 fmjbt w/c for my AR 15 3 gun rifle, which is also used for plinking at steel plates out to 230 yards at WEGC.

Plinking ammo for my 1926 Winchester model 54 30-06 bolt action rifle: my own cast 159 plain base lead round nose lubed with white label Cred lube and set on top of 9.0 grains of Herco shotgun powder. It pushes them out at 1300 feet per second. These probably cost me 5-10 bucks per 100 rounds and they have very little recoil. They extend my shooting time with the model 54. I mix in some 165 jacketed bullets over approx. 46 grains of 4895 for full power loads, to keep things fun.

From what I understand, the quality of PMC is little more than "plinking ammo".

I haven't shot it, but it's supposedly dirty, it has inconsistent powder loads, and has soft brass.

I burned through about 350 pills on my Lee Classic Cast Turret last night. In about 49 minutes...

I cranked out these.

Too bad, I hoped to have you drop them over at my house so I could turn them into these!

Nice looking anti-zombie loads. Looks like you are getting that powder coat dialed in nicely. What is the advantage? I have no knowledge of this. :)

Why Thank you. :)

Total encapsulation and containment of lead- No lead vapors, no lead dust.
Slick/Lubed bullets, no lube needed for resizing.
Tougher than plated, because there is a little more flexibility in the powdercoat
Powdercoat seems to mysteriously clean your bore out by acting as a mop and pushing everything out, no leading, no PC left behind.
Rifling does NOT cut into the PC, it merely presses it into the lead, I have seen rifling cut into plating.
Velocity can be kicked up to around 3k fps
PC does not appear to burn or melt
Crazy *** colors and soon glow in the dark
From wheel weights to loaded ammo in an hour or less, no need to lube at all.
It is just different- I like to find cool things to keep interests perked.
Coming soon- camos and team colors... :O

Sounds like a lot of benefits for the effort. Now, if only the Condors couldn't chew through them...:D Since you are getting so good at it, could you share your technique some time with us know-nothings?
