Up for sale is a model 1892 Winchester standard sporting rifle in 44-40. It has a 24" octagon barrel with a full length magazine and a crescent butt. made in 1917. It is a smokeless powder rifle.

Barrel and magazine are mostly blue but no longer shiny. The corners are white.

The bore is shiny with some typical cleaning wear at the muzzle. The wear is only a little "pin-pricking" around the muzzle.

The rifle shoots very well and is accurate. The magazine color is thick with no dents. The retaining band is tight in its dovetail.

The sights are the standard Winchester post front w/set screw. The rear is a typical flat top sporting type w/ the "01" pattern elevator. As you would expect.

All the screws are in very good condition with no gauged slots.

All markings are clear, deep and clear and easy to read.

The receiver is brown with no scratches or gauges. There is a little faint pin pricks scattered on the left side.

The locking bars are unusually tight for their age. The action is smooth and cycles, feeds and ejects flawlessly. The trigger is light and crisp.

The stocks are dark and smooth although a little low at the wrist and front of the receiver. Someone way back in time etched their initials in the buttstock. They have worn smooth over time.

This is a much nicer than average old '92. Not the junker you usually find these days. It's been in my collection for almost 30 years and it needs a new home where it will be appreciated.

Asking price is $1,600.00 and trades are not being considered. The rifle is in the Los Angeles area and I prefer a FTF transfer.

First I'll take it here with a PM follow up gets it at the asking price . Ask any questions, comments etc.
