So far, its been an awesome gun. 150 rounds flawless. I did 50 at about 70 yards at steel...I shot it better than my duty usp 40, which I also shoot 50 rounds through.

yesterday:

40 rounds static at 15 yards. Shot group of 3.25 inches.

For me, this is awesome because It took 5-6k rounds to get there with a P226r 9mm, and 40. To this day, I can't shoot the usp that well and I have over 10k through it.

60 rounds, dynamic between 15 and 10 yards. Shot group of 5 inches.

Shooting while on the move, its a dream. I have been primarly a point shooter my whole life, but I have such good control with the pistol its simple to pick up that front sight, so I have both with this pistol. Never been able to do that with the usp, but have with the p226.

Sorry guys, I had pictures and a Video that didn't turn out so well, but I had a pretty good crime scene to process a few hours later, so I had to delete the photo's and vid for space.

I do, however, have to shoot my usp today to try diagnose its problem. I will take another box of 9mm, and get a comparission for you!

So far, great gun....I just hope SA will let me get the free mags since I did the transfer on the 8th, even though it was paid for on the 5th......Fingers crossed!

I like the service models too! If we get to carry what we want at work any time soon, I will get a xdm 4.5 though!:)

Glocks are good weapons.....I just dont shoot them well!

Yeah, Ifelt the same way when shooting an xdm .40. It was perhaps the only gun I didn't have to even try to get used to but was hitting whatever I aimed for, literally, from the first shot on. That match barrel makes a big difference...

Here is a pic of my groups. I had to shoot my usp 40 to diagnose the feeding problem(It was the magazine)... Top right is the usp with 50 rounds duty ammo at 10 yards. Bottom right is usp with 50 rounds practice ammo at 12 yards (I know it says 10, I messed up). Top left is xdm 3.8 9mm with 50 rounds of practice ammo at 20 yards.

I shot in the order listed above.

I wanted to see if I could get a better group at 20 yards with the xdm, which I did by a bit. I did notice my forearms were extremely sore because I had played hoops prior to shooting. I was tired after the 1st 20 rounds, which was wierd since I shoot at least once a week. I had a good group going on the usp, but it just fell apart.

On the xdm, I hit dead center 1st shot, and stayed inside the circle for about 10 rounds....I then spead up my shooting (did the same thing with the usp) and began slapping the trigger and was shooting left, I tried correcting but lost sight picture and sent some high. with about 15 rounds left, I regained my composure and started hitting my mark again.

One thing I noticed today, was the sight radus between the two, was only about 1/3 of an inch in favor of the usp.....Has to do with the styles of course.

Put another 5 mags through it today. Still flawless. My groups have improved since the last time I shot it. I was hoping to do an IDPA match tomorrow, but we are taking the kids on the santa train ride.....So, if they it on the 26th (I doubt it), I will run one then, other wise, 2nd sunday of January.

Very informative- Thank you! I wonder if it's the match barrel..the ergonomics unique to the XDM, the sights, or the golden..."all of the above."

In any case, looks like it suits you very well!

May it keep you safe out there!

So I have another 300 rounds through it. Still perfect in function. The trigger has gotten a bit better (never an issue before!). All 300 rounds were fired from a dirty weapon, as I did not clean it from the last time I shot it. It was checked for lube each time, but was still wet enough for use. This runs pretty clean. I have fired mostly federal jhp, but have used some wwb.

This target was for my off duty carry cert. I need to work on shooting from the hip! Every one you see that is outside of the organ cavity was from 3 yards, !, with the exception of the six shots that are to the left of the head... Those were from the range master, who I let shoot about 10 or so rounds. The one to the far right of the head was also at 3 yards:mad: and happened to be the only round thrown for the drill. All that went through my head was I tagged some poor girl... But, thats why we train on paper! ;)

This drill was exicuted at 3, 5, 7, and 15 yards, with a standard response for a threat. I change my standard reponse almost everytime, because every gun battle is different. Some bad guys are more motivated than others.

About half of the head shots were done at 25 yards, behind cover of a vehicle.

Whats that??? A stab wound to the heart? Hey, sometimes a weapon will malfuntion, so I simulate them at close range everynow and then. Sometimes, you may need to go to another weapon.

Overall, this is now my favorite weapon. I like it more than a p226 in 9mm, but I have yet to shoot a p226E2... Now, I just need a TLR3, but that will have to wait since we just bought an Expedition today.

I know that it doesn't make sense that 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch would make that much difference in the balance of a gun, but it does. I usually carry a G17 on duty, but my HK P30 seems easier to maneuver and manipulate. Now consider the effect on a building search. As the movement of the gun goes, especially muzzle control around fellow officers, so goes your body. It actually seems easier to maneuver around a dark building interior with a shorter slide gun, for me.

It is by far the easiest handgun to control I have ever used... I have never been that good of a shooter from position 3, so I need to work on that.

I have not had to shoot in simunitions training when doing dynamic entry training (Or in real life thankfully!)... I have good instincts and quick reactions, not to mention our trainers were good!. That being said, I can't wait to compare the two(XDM V. USP40) when I go to front sight and go through the shoot house later this year!:)

I think if we ever get to carry what we want, I will try out the 4.5 model, but if its not a big difference, I will stick with the 3.8. if they force us to stay with something in .40.....Thats a whole different topic.

Got to the range again... I shot the usp much better this time around. The top target is 40 rounds @10 yards, static. I had a flinch today... Worked it out though. Any ways, the rest of the targets, were on the move, never standing still, all between 15-5 yards.

Not sure if anyone remembers, but I was having feeding issues with my duty weapon a few months ago... I think it may have been ammo, but I need to shot more duty ammo to make sure it will be ok from here on out. Today, I had 8 FTF:eek:

Bottom three is the XDm9 3.8 I think I am going to upgrade the sights soon (order on the 28th). ZERO malfunctions. This thing is going to get a few new things come to think of it... I'm going to get a nice compact tac light for it, and I bought some more kydex so I will be making a few more holsters.

BTW, 1/2 of the shooting was done wearing tactical gloves... Feels just as comfortable with them, as without.

Just for fun, I know its rifle, but here is some patrol rifle results...

Top target, about 25 rounds @55 yards, standing, static.

Second, 60-70 rounds, on the move, fast groucho walk, 25-7 yards.

One FTF, but it was through an old GI mag. Pmags were flawless.

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i234/xxcowgirlatheartxx/Gun%20pics/IMG_1440.jpg

First chance I got to test this out... I think I'm taking it off. It allows too much muzzle movement. I like a tight grip, but I'm just going to have to get my hand out there! About 1/2 of all rounds were fired with this grip. BTW, the rifle sight is a Trijicon reflex 6.5 MOA. I really like the sight and its function, just wish the MOA was 4 or less.

I really want to get some video up, but I guess it will have to wait until I get my front sight membership... I'm working on the days IDPA runs, so can't get it then.
