I have been loving my p226 and glock 17, but simply put, what would you combine from your pistols to make the "perfect" one.

Sights, grip, weight, magazines, trigger, safety, caliber, slide serrations, finishes and grip angles. :cool2:

What would you combine for your perfect duty/ccw/hd weapon?

Grip angle between a g17 and a 1911

Grip ergo's between a G19 and G30sf

Mepro sight cause I cant see the tiny triji dots.

I think the G30 weight is good

15rnd .45 acp mags

Glock has the right Idea on safeties

Awesome! If only we had photo shop! :43:

Grip angle of Glock

Grip ergo of a sig pro

Trijicons for the sights.

The weight of a Sig p226 seems perfect.

14 round .357 sig or 9mm.

Either no safety what so ever or Glock style.

Finish would be the Sig pro finish, not sure if thats nitron?

Black checkered or rubber grips.

Never held or fired one, but is there something you'd improve on a 1911 that is currently stock or pushed by other gun brands/models?

Yeah, but once you get rid of the grip and thumb safeties to make the gun actually ergonomic, it's a pretty dangerous gun to carry.

If you put the trigger of the Ruger SR9C on the new Ruger SR40, and Lone Wolf or someone puts out a reliable .40-to-9mm conversion barrel for it ..... mmmmmm. :)

A single stack glock 19 so its thin like a 1911 with 10 round capacity (cali legal anyhow). A better recoil spring and I have my perfect pistol.

Not necessarily associated with other models, but casting the plunger tube into the frame would be a good move. The staked ones are easily the weakest part of the design.

Here is a list:

Glock 23/19, Sig p228/229, Smith and Wesson or Ruger THREE inch revolvers in 38/357 magnum.

I wish glock would make a compact .45 along the lines of the g19/g23. It's either full size or sub compact though.

I thought the G30 was compact, is it actually subcompact?

Also - 1911 FTW. Maybe offer it in a high capacity, 9mm or .40 format. Para does nice things with high cap .45's, but I'll bet you can stuff 20 rounds of 9mm in a high cap 1911.

My ideal would be a 1911 with useable fixed Heinie straight eight sights, dehorned edges, 4# trigger, front cocking serrations (since I use it), Kart/Barsto/Shuemann/Nowlin barrel, beavertail, extended thumb safety with positive on/off, beveled S&A magwell, 25lpi checking front and back, serrated topstrap, finished in melonite and a crate filled with Tripp Cobramags.

I'd have to say the Ruger Security-Six in .357 Magnum is an ideal handgun for most people. Being a wheelgun, it can't stovepipe. Being a Ruger, it's nearly as strong as Hercules, and unlike its successor, the Super Redhawk 357--er, GP-100, it's not so bulky. Very well balanced, very comfortable to shoot and carry (assumes OC). No safety to have to remember in an "oh God, the BG's broken into our house!" situation. Just point 'n' shoot.

"But it's only got six rounds of capacity!" Please. Six shots of .38 Spl +P has done the job for cops for decades and certainly will for most homeowners. .38/357 has got to be the easiest pair of cartridges in the world to reload, and thus cheap. .357 Magnum even serves well as a good handgun hunting round, for those so inclined. Plenty of whitetails have fallen to the .357 Magnum.

Now, I'm not knocking any other gun. Glocks, SR9's, SIG Sauers, etc. are all fine firearms. I'm simply saying not to discount the wheelgun, either.

Haha, I have no problem with the grip angle on the glock - Gryff
It always suited me fine, I just think its a bit thick to a degree.

Good choices thus far guys! Remember it can be almost stock, just slight changes are allowed as well. I figure that its more fun to cross install parts from different pistols rather than revolvers.

This one was given to me by Captain James T. Kirk. I just wish he'd never removed the original Trijicon sights and Cocobolo wood grips that came with that gun. I just had to upgrade the worn out trigger spring with a Wolff spring. (I guess Kirk shot a lot in his time!) The micro-nuclear reacter nodule I had to replace with a new one from General Electric. Parts are gett'n hard to find for this great weapon! Now however, it's my "perfect gun." :D:D:D:D

If Browning Hi Power had went through the same evolution as 1911 did, it will be my ideal handgun. Single action, great ego, perfect balance, hi capacity and beautiful to look at.

The evolution I have in mind were something like get rid of that stupid french mag safety, tiny manual safety, two piece recoil guide rod, lighter recoil spring, lighter trigger, add some texture on that front grip, and some serration on the front of slide, true target sight...etc.

Sturnovik

I actually still to this day have had no chance to shoot the browning hi power! I thought most nowadays were the American style magazine release not European?

I have never seen or experienced the two piece guide rod design, it worse or just different?

Having one ideal handgun takes the fun completely out of having many nearly ideal handguns. This thread sucks J/K. Ideally for me there would be no roster/mag limits

Great ergonomics-- Mine in 40 is superb A 2-piece guide rod at least for me, is easier to deal with than a 1-piece guide-rod re: Gryff
