Picked this up three days ago and had badger boot grips waiting for it. Put them on and took pics today.

At first I thought you mistyped SP 01 as in CZ. Open the thread to see some much needed revolver surprise, nice.

Thanks. I was surprised when I first held the gun with the new grip on. I was expecting a 2 finger hold. My pinkie easily wraps around the bottom part of the grip. It is also incredibly comfortable and I feel like a can get a great hold on the gun.

Hahahaha. Gorenut is correct. Its a squirrel and my girlfriend made it with yarn. I like to pretend I don't know its crochet so I can keep my man card

She wanted me to take a couple pics of it before she gives it to her friend. I thought it would look funny next to the .357.

Nice grips; have you shot it with them on it? I asks because I played around with a bunch of different grips for my SP101 and finally ended up with the factory grips back on it; they seemed the best for recoil with full house .357 loads.

But then again I have soft girly hands.

Very cute... have your GF post on here in the Ladies Forum. I'd like to see if she can make guinea pigs - lol

I haven't shot it yet. I'm hoping to get a chance in a couple weeks :/ I bought a few different types of ammo I'm going to try in it. I'll update with range pics and experiences when I go to the range. Ammo includes:
-Remington umc .38 special 130 gr fmj
-Remington express .357 magnum 125 gr. SJHP
-Speer Gold Dot short barrel .357 magnum 135 gr. GDHP
-Winchester Bonded PDX1 .38 special +P 130gr. JHP

My girlfriend (115lbs) is also going to shoot all the above ammo and I'll post her reactions too.

I generally don't mind recoil, went with the Pachmayer round butt grips. Not too big and any 357 load you use doesn't kick too much. In fact, 110 and 125 is very, very easy.

Ross makes a very nice holster for the hammerless version too.

I replaced the stock grips on my SP101 with Hogue with good results. They don't look as nice as the wood grips you have installed, but are quite functional. I often shoot 200 rounds of .357 with no discomfort. The hogue grips move your grip down a bit though and they kind of hang up a bit if drawing from a pocket.

I use the Hogue grips for the range and the originals for general use.
I agree with Bucktooth's comments on the Hogue grips.
Time for some rose wood or laminate grip panels for the stock grips.

I will probably pick up some hogue grips. I want to keep this gun as concealable as possible though and the hogues may not be the best option for that. I would like to have a set for the range though.

I put the houge rubberized grip on mine and it takes the .357 mags nicely and mine is the 2 1/4 inch barrel.

Joe,

Please pass onto your GF that I approve ;) My husband thinks I'm a freak about the guinea pigs, but what else is new? Lol

Does your GF sell her little knit animals or just makes them for fun?

Thanks again for sharing!

I'll tell her you said it was cute. She said she wants to make another one in a darker brown with a white face.

She just makes them for fun.

Thanks again; I think your GF is very talented! I know all the guys are rolling their eyes, but I think you're a real man for being able to take all the eyerolls on CGN :)

SP 101's are really nice guns. I was able to shoot a rental some time back and was happy with its performance. At the Ontario Crossroads show this weekend I was surprised to see at a dealer's table that it's about the same size as, maybe even a tad smaller than, the more-publicized LCR.

Man, that's a nice revolver. I've been wanting one, but I can't justify it with a S&W 640 no dash in the safe.

Thanks. Mine's 3" vs. what looks to be a 2". I prefer your grips though. Beautiful!

I out the Hogue Monogrips on my 3 1/16" SP101.

It helps a little when shooting heavy loads.

I'm not sure I would go with the wood grips unless I was shooting mostly .38 Special or .38 Special+P loads.

But the OP's wood grips look great!
