Predator Callers of Orange County is a well established group that has been hunting predators since the 60's and currently has about 45 members. Our club is friendly to new members whether you're a veteran or a rank novice. We host a variety of activities that include 6 competitive club hunts each year (usually Fri 5pm to Sun 3pm), an annual campout and nightfire competition, and an awards dinner. We publish a monthly newsletter well worth the read. We have monthly meetings and programs on the first Tuesday of every month at Turner's on Brookhurst in Fountain Valley at 7pm.

Predator calling is a different kind of hunting with long seasons, no bag limits, and a variety of hunting opportunities and styles. It requires you to be good at about 10 things and to be able to do them all well in absolute darkness, since most hunts are under the new moon. Your coyotes must be called. This is not spot and stalk. Typically we shut down March 1 and start up again in August after the denning season. There is a ton of information to be learned about this excellent shooting sport and our experienced hunters are always willing to share their knowledge with interested new members. You'll learn more in two hunts with a veteran about spotlighting from a California rig than you could learn in two years of trial and error hunting on your own for California's premier predator, the coyote. The first hunt of the season is right around the corner, and no team will be allowed to compete without a novice on board, so we're always looking for a few good shooters who want to hunt with our very social group.

Though unusual by current standards, the most coyotes I've personally seen taken by a team on a single 46-hour hunt was 43. Many of our members have used their acquired skills to also call fox, bobcat, bear and mountain lion.

PM me if you'd like more info... or just go to one of the meetings and meet the guys. If you like to hunt, you'll be glad you did.

The club in Sacramento maintains a bulletin board at CaliforniaPredatorsClub.com and one their fearless leaders is in Citrus Heights. Membership is so cheap it's almost free. If you want to hunt and learn to shoot better than ever, coyote hunting provides more opportunities to expand your skill sets than any other shooting sport.
