I did a search, returned nothing.
How does one open a WWII sardine can?
I am feeling like a complete moron right now....
I would like to fire my new/old mosin this weekend. At this rate, I'll be lucky to have the can open by next weekend.

with the can opener. which looks like a giant old-fashined can opener.
or use a chisel and a hammer to cut the lid off at the inside corner. it works the same way and you will not damage the ammo.

And there I was afraid of pounding on an ammo can......

No dremel. Only die grinder and bigger. I kinda put the cut off wheel idea with the cutting torch idea. Just sounds bad in my head. :D
I REALLY can't believe none of the can punchers I have here fit....

How much you want to bet that more than one of these cans has been opened with a bayonet and good sized tree branch?

Just like opening a can of sardines there should be a little tab that sticks out and you put the T shaped tool on it and wind it up until you have separated the two halves.
Unless its not done this way anymore and or depending on where it was mfg.
I opened a can of 30/06 AP just a week ago and it was sealed this way.
Or try a P38
I used a set of red handled aviation snips to open my last one, I just cut the lip off the top of the can on 3 sides
