View Full Version : I Love Romanian Rifles!!! WASR 10 and Draco range day.

Well I finally got to the range with my new Draco and WASR 10/63. Brought the PSL along for giggles too.

All I have to say is if you don't have one already, buy one! The WASR was such a great shooter. Easy natural pointer, accurate and fairly precise. My last zero group had all three rounds touching at 25 yards. After that I was doing up downs and controlled pairs. It was so much fun it should have been taxed!

The Draco was just plain stupid fun. No real recoil to speak of, easily controllable and pretty accurate out of the box.

I really don't have any more to say! I mean what else can I say? No malfunctions, everything shot well, shot accurately, and shot smooth as silk using the Yugo 7.62x39 surplus.
I even got away from featureless rifles. With the Solar tactical BB tool attached to the AK mags it was just as fast as dropping the mag by hand.

End state is that the newer WASR 10/63's are great rifles. For the money you just cant beat a Romanian rifle!

EDIT: Just thought Id add, for anyone considering a WASR and reading all the horror stories about canted this and bent that-mine has none of it. Everything is as straight as an arrow, and there is NO mag wobble, at all, ever, period. This seems to be fairly common of the newer WASR's. Great investment.

Many thanks to:
Peach State Guns-Great people to deal with! Bought the Draco and the PSL from them. Easy going people who sell good guns at a good price.
DD's Ranch-When everyone else was out of WASR 10/63's they had them in stock and were able to accommodate many, many questions from me. Again GREAT rifle and customer service.
A&A Firearms Fresno-Julians about the easiest going FFL Ive ever dealt with. His prices beat the competition by a large margine and hes EBR friendly. Some people in this town dont want anything to do with AK's or "Commie" guns. Julian doesnt discriminate!

That's a fine gaggle of weapons you got there.
The horror stories abound with regard to the "crappy" WASR rifles.
I'm glad you didn't listen to the negative b.s..
I like them too and they always work and hit what I aim at.
If for any reason the sights are off or canted the sights can be corrected very easily.
Caveman simple. :grilling:

Id love to get a Romanian Tokarev though, or maybe a Romanian Makarov.

Nice! I've been wanting a Romanian M91 ever since I got my Romanian M44.

Personal opinion: I'd get a tokarev before a makarov. Ammo is cheaper and if the surplus dries up it's a simple barrel swap to go to 9mm.

Id be happy with either or-but I need to get about another 5000 rounds of 7.62x39 and 5.45 before I buy any more guns.

I'm gonna threadjack here for a second...how do the WASR 10/63s compare with Maadis? I'm looking to buy one or the other for my first AK and a Maadi popped up for sale on here. Thanks guys.

Thanks a bunch guys.
A&A is on Maroa and Shaw. Julian is a member, screen name A&A FIREARMS

Im looking at those pics (crap BB pics I know) but the plastic bullet button tools on my mags are getting chewed up. Might need to find something in aluminum or steel, but they're still good to go.

From what I've read a&a seems like the place to go for my transfer. And does that happen to be the lemoore sportsmans club?

No prob. I need to zero the scope anyway. I also need to purge it-after I go the the inert-gas store and figure out how to get it in there.

I really think the 47 was the star of the show today, but the Draco is a close second. Thats not to say the PSL isnt awesome, its just a known, awesome factor.

The Draco was just silly. really easy to control and pointed very naturally. Your not going to group with it but I have no problem hitting targets.

It looks alot better with the new wood on it, thanks. The stuff it came with looks like it was whittled by a Romanian Alzheimer patient who got ahold of some balsa wood.

Just make sure you buy from someone reputable, DD's was great with me.

Yep. It makes it really quick to change mags, nearly as fast as I could do it on a featureless rifle.

Just placed my order from DD's Ranch for that exact rifle, I'll probably get some new furniture for it, though I'm having a hard time deciding between the classic wood furniture like your ( looks classy!) and a tactical set.

I was wondering the same thing until I got the furniture, now Im going to stick with it the way it is without a doubt. I may go tacticool on my wifes converted Saiga.

From one married man to another dont upgrade her rifle unless she picks out the parts. It will save you a lot of complaining at the range.

Ya just asked her about it. Shes going to try a red dot/ultimac setup and see how she likes it.
