I finally went down to Parallax Tactical yesterday and bought a Stripped lower....wooohooo!! I have a few questions though...I know overall length must be 30"...I was looking at all these tacticool buttstocks and was wondering....Will i be able to meet the OAL req's with say.....A Command Arms 6 position stock or something similar?? I just wanna know...i'm probably going to end up doing a M16A4 clone...I'm used to the 20" barrel that i've shot while in the Corps..Oh yeah, any Calgunners around oceanside area that i can go to for help? This is my first build and i dont want to leave build scars on my first AR...thanx guys

i think you will be fine with just about any stock and a 20" barrel.

say i cant find a good deal on a 20" upper or i find a middy at a must have price? will i still be OKAY with a 16" barrel?i should right? If I sound paranoid well......its Commiefornia, I dont need a felony AW charge

you should be fine unless you go 14.5" or shorter. if thats the case you need a permanently installed muzzle device to keep the barrel length at 16"

I love Parallax Tactical, great local store for AR stuff. I bought 2 stripped lowers from them in the past and various parts and accessories.

A CAA 6-Pos stock with a 16" upper should meet the OAL reg for an AR. You're a little too far for me ...

I went with a 16" barrel and a 6 position buttstock from Magpul and the overall length is 33" collapsed.

I wouldn't worry about OAL with an AR. As stated with a M4 style, even with the stock collapsed you hit over 30 inches. Really only becomes an issue with folding stocks, bullpups, uzi type carbines etc etc.

Good luck with the build!

If you stick to a standard barrel, be it 16" on up, you'll be OK.
If you plan on a threaded end for flash hiders or a brake, then you have to have a bullet button mag lock or something like it.
Look at the AW flow chart here and you can see what's (currently) legal and what's not. It's a great tool!

I am sorry I have to do this to you, but you said "Corps"....thats indicates a mindset and way of life few here understand. I hope you have a good job, that pays you well.... once again I am sorry for this.. your CAA stock kit isn't going to cut it..not even close. Its not Mil-spec, its not even a clone of mil-spec..its a commercial civilian range plinker addon. They sell them in the PX for your civy gun..not your issue. Research Mil-spec vs Commercial buffer tubes

if I was going with a 20" A4 clone, I would stick with a fixed stock or this
