I've been researching and looking at pictures for days. I'm about ready to buy. Narrowed it down to two.

Stag or BCM.

I already decided to get a carbine. I understand the difference but prefer the way they look.

So please don't turn this into a carbine vs mid thread.

I would like to know which you think is better and maybe a few reasons why.

Thanks

BCM. Carbine is just fine. And I would go with them because of their price, and all the bells and whistles they include as part of it. No paying extra for chrome-lined or anything else like that.

Love my BCM, plus you get a hat with it (usually)!

Both great companies with quality products and excellent waranties and customer service. Can't go wrong with either.

I know the flames will come, but I preferred the finish of the Stag receivers and 1/9 twists for carbines.

/ cue the posts on key staking and feed ramps in 3, 2, 1 ........:D

If I get the BCM I'm getting this for $520:

If I get the Stag then this for $535:

With the BCM I'll spend $30 extra on a magpul guard. I plan on getting rails in a month or so.

So the BCM will cost just a little more, but the price differences are not really a concern.

Really just want to know if one is better than the other.

I like the BCM. I am not an Ar guy and dont own one anymore but had a bcm and a stag and like the bcm better. It felt smoother to me. Stag never had any problems and was a great upper as well

Did the Stage give you any problems?

There was a pretty long BCM vs. Stag thread a few days ago.

Do you get a bolt carrier group and charging handle with the BCM? Because there isn't one in the pic.

In case you're interested, I am selling my Smith & Wesson MP15T upper seen here in the picture of the complete rifle.. About 1500 rounds, cleaned religiously after each outing. Comes with BCG and Troy Rails, and front folding troy BUIS.

It's $135 extra, but I incorporated that in the price above.

Thats what I remember when looking at BCM deals. No bolt or carrier .

So you found the BCM minus bolt for $385 ? Get that. Not that there is anything wrong with Stag.

I would think a LMT BCG for your nice carbine build at 230 might be worth it.

Nice rifle. But I think I'll go brand new. Thanks for the heads up though.

Both will do well, but BCM is better made and gives a lot more bang for the money.

I own a Stag and I voted for BCM.

BCM is going to be my next upper when I finish building my lower (but thats because I want a middy)

I dont have any problems with my Stag, I just didnt do my research before I purchased. Nothing wrong with it... I was more excited about the fact I was getting an AR. My Stag upper is accurate, but I think the BCM just gives a better bang for the buck + seems little nicer on the fit and finish department.

Are you referring to one in particular? I was planning on getting a magpul flip up.

None in particular, bcm uppers do not include rear sights. The mbus is fine, I use one also.

Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like I really can't go wrong with either, so I just ordered the BCM.

Thanks
