Howdy,

Real quick question for you pros! If you remove the pistol grip from an AK, is it still 922(r) compliant? ...ya thats about it.

Removing the pistol grip has nothing to do with 922(r), unless you are repacing the foreign made PG with an American made one. But you still have to have enough parts in to be 922(r) compliant. However, if the rifle was already legal to buy in the U.S., than it is already 922(r) compliant.

Thats exactly my concern, from what I have been understanding, many manufacturers/importers are using an American made pistol grip, along with the other required American made parts, to become 922(r) compliant. So I am wondering, if we remove it to ship to CA or already have a build without one, do we run the risk of not having enough American parts for it to still be legal?

IT is not how many american parts you have it is how many foreign parts you have. Removing pistol grip won't make your situation worse if it is american made and actually it will iprove it if it isn't
