Good looking setup.

door busting muzzle break

What does this mean?

The muzzle brake is pretty heavy duty and thick. it is really jagged at the end. I'm assuming it is for smacking someone if you run out of shells and are that bad of a shot. It could break glass and be used to push on a door....Prob just an marketing term though.

That must hurt your hand to fire that.

Ive fired my 500 with a top folding stock and 18" barrel, pretty fun. I think that loop on the slide could also be grasped like a battering ram against a door..

I could not find any reports on that gun. I wonder how good that muzzle brake works---if it does then the gun is prob really nice...

Maybe the muzzle brake lets you use the special door breeching rounds by placing the brake in contact with the door, something you shouldn't do with the bare muzzle. The strap on the pistol grip just makes it easier to hold onto so the whole thing doesn't rotate up and smack you in the face. Pistol gripped shotguns supposedly are pretty hard on the wrist.

Where'd you see this gun for $300? Cheapest I've seen is $324 on Gunbroker. I've thought about buying this gun just for the hell of it and adding a Knoxx Breachers grip for recoil reduction.

Correct! The muzzle looks like it has a stand off device that allows you to use breaching rounds. It's jagged so it does'nt slide around when you push it against a door.

1 load breaching round
2 place stand off device against door hinge or lock
3 fire
4 repeat until door opens

Reviving old thread here..

I know this might sound like a stupid question, but would this shotgun still count as a long gun? I was at the range last night and they had one on the shelf and I almost bought it. I'm thinking it would be a perfect trunk gun.

yep, it's longer than 26 inches and barrel is longer than 18 inches. in the face of the law, it's as much as a long gun as a Singleshot bolt action 22Lr training rifle...

Does this have a metal trigger guard? Also is this barrel too short to be interchangeable w/ the 590? Remember when Mossberg had a DA trigger? Are those still available? any one get to "feel" one out?

all that breaching tool on the end is a hole saw,
made to fit the end of the gun.

you can turn any pistol, sholder, folding stock shotty into one of these.:43:

all you need is a hole saw from any hardware store a drill file, and a welder.

save the cost of buying a "special" gun.

Here is the union of the Ltd Breecher Barrel on my 590DA1. Metal trigger gaurd
and safety. Anyone interested I'll part with it for $250. Yes this barrel will swap right onto a 590/590A1/590DA1 with six inch tube.

There is also the Mossie 500 Persuader for $240.00.It is an 8+1 in the same configuration, but without the 'hole saw' .How many doors do plan on breaching ? The Persuader also has a barrel shroud ,which seems more practical than the saw. The barrel shroud is "the thing that goes up."

i love my mossberg 500 with the door busting barrel, but the pistol grip had to go so i put an AT m4 collapsible M4 stock on it

This Mossberg Breacher model has several advantages over the basic 500 models.

1. You can unscrew the magazine cap and add an extension, Max100 at Gun Connection makes a +2 mag extension that is flush with the barrel.

2. You can swap the 590A1 18.5" barrels or the 835 (other models too, look it up) 18.5" barrels. If your lucky you could even add one of the GRS barrels if you can find one.

3. The barrel is thicker.

4. The SG is a matte black, many of the other 500's will be blue.

5. Some people have also reported less muzzle rise with muzzle break devices, but I have not seen any with this particular one.

6. There are also some reports of a less chance of crap flying back at you if your don't use a frangible slug by keeping the muzzle in direct contact with the door.

The Gun has a 590 mag tube though. It should be called a 590 Cruiser.

Thanks. Gun connection shipped me the extension tube a few days ago. Very good to deal with! The tube is freaking awesome and I am the envy of my buddies who own the same gun :)

I'm going to dress my mossy 500 up a little bit more and once I am done I will post pics. +1 to gun connection!!
