For what it's worth...

A well known LEO/firearm instructor told me that he has known Bill for years and that Bill is personally anti-gun. He also said that Mike Carona wanted to do a lot more CCWs in OC, but that the city mayors ganged up on him to change his mind. Mike's biggest problem seemed to be his friend-selection process.

Supposedly, spine-removal surgery is a requirement for any high-ranking LEO/politician.

As always, it's hard to find the truth.

I don't know too many anti-gun types that are members of the NRA...Bill Hunt is (a NRA member).

First of all, who is your "LEO/firearm instructor friend" that knows he's "anti-gun"? I have heard this a couple of times now. However, everytime I ask about the source making the comment all of a sudden no one can provide a name or refuses to. Second thing is, what does big city mayors have to do with issuing CCW permits? How would they "gang" up on Carona? What leverage do they have that would make him not issue CCW permits to law abiding citizens?

Here in OC? Probably more leverage than anywhere else in California! Many of our incorporated areas are patrolled by OCSD under contract. Mayor & Council get upset and they can threaten to cancel/not renew/go elsewhere (i.e. CHP)/downsize services. All these threaten the size and funding of his department, and in politics that seems to be a really bad thing to have happen to oneself.

let me get this straight. the city council doesn't like it that the sheriff issues ccw's to law abiding citizens so they cancel a LEO contract with the OCSD. first off, think how that sounds to your average voter in OC. it won't fly. second, do you know how much that would cost to switch to the CHP. you could not even make a case for it to the conservative voter in OC. lastly, if this is really happening ......... be specific. what cities are planning to do this? who are the city council members/mayors that are threatening to "cancel/go elsewhere/downsize"? give details so we can get the word out to the voters in OC that the leaches in office don't trust the peasants with guns. guys, i'm not trolling on this board. i'm looking for someone to be specific about these behind the scene politics by giving me names, cities, mayors, etc..... but quite frankly, i don't believe it for a minute. nobody is threatening carona.

Whoa there, slow down! I never said anybody was threatening Corona, I just laid out what kind of leverage COULD be applied! But switch to CHP? Maybe not as unreal as you think, as I know that Coto de Caza has used them off-an-on in the past several years when they've had problems with OCSD. I also remember about 2 years ago where one of the northern OC cities contracted with LA for fire services. (Can't remember which one, go search ocregister.com if you really want to find more info) I'm just saying that there are other alternatives that local communities could make besides being dependant on the OCSD; and that means pressures can be applied...

heres the bottom line......... cities will not cancel contracts with the OCSD because they have issued to many CCW permits. there is no logic in that. when you look at how many ccw's have been issued it is not enough. this idiotic "cause statement" you have to write is a complete waste of time. Bill Hunt will get rid of this and issue CCW's to any law abiding citizen that can legally purchase a firearm in the state of california. Carona will not. Bill Hunt has said that "personal protection" is a just cause. Period. on a side note WeThePeople still has not answered my question of who his LEO/Firearms Instructor friend's name is..............i'm waiting

I imagine your questions will not be answered because he is a TROLL.

Fact is disinformation and the like are a tactic used by those who only want to misinform. Hmmmmm seems like maybe we have a Carona supporter wanting to mix it up in here.

Troll.......find somewhere else to spew your lies.

:)

Bill Hunt for Sheriff - The only one man enough to actually man up and tell us the truth.

There dosent need to be logic, its political.

Second, if Carona was pressured by mayors and council members of contract cities and it worked why would you use the current number of CCW permit holders to show that its not enough to cause a change? THAT has no logic.

I am neither for nor against LT. Hunt or Sheriff Carona at this point. But I do view LT. Hunt with some suspicion on his stance as that is my nature.

"personal protection" is currently a valid reason for a permit, you just need to have proof that your life is in danger. I see no indicators from LT. Hunt that he would relax that requisite to the point where you could litteraly write down "personal protection" on the application and be approved as so many have suggested.

Troll? You're a funny guy.

I'm sorry if I didn't respond fast enough for some of you.

Since the LEO makes part of his living from CCW training, I didn't want to give out his name. Maybe you can see the logic in that.

I have no emotion about this race. Mike said he would increase the number of CCWs given out. He did that. Should he have given out more? Probably.

In general, OC seems to be at least a gun-neutral county. Does Mike deserve any credit for this? Maybe. Some other counties are anti-gun, partly because of the Sheriff.

What kind of pressure can the other cities put on Mike? I told you all that I heard.

No, I'm not part of any campaign. I'm always disappointed in all politicians.

I know nothing about Bill, other than the one comment that I posted. If you think you know Bill's true philosophy, then vote for him.

I'd like to see thousands of people apply for CCWs with just "personal protection" as the cause. If rejected, I'd like to see all of those people appeal. As was stated, that's the only way to see who is really pro-CCW.

Troll out.
