Well, I've got a m44 (50's polish gun) Great shape and all. However, i'd like to have a world war 2 era mosin nagant---the m44 is nice and shoots well but i don't need two. Should i get rid of the short m44 for a long 91? What say you?

For the prices they are going at I would keep the M44 and get a 91/30.

What he said.

Seriously, Big 5 sells the M91/30 for like $113 out the door. I've seen people selling OK condition ones here on CalGuns for $90 cash and carry PPT.

It might take you more than $100 worth of time and effort to sell your M44. Just keep it and buy a 91/30 too.

+1 on the keep and buy more. The prices are so low that unless you need room in the safe, I am not sure it is worth the effort to dump the M44. That said, it looks like you might have an interested buyer.

The 91's are one of the best collectable Russian Mosins. I have quiet a few and they look and shoot great. Try and get a Finnish 91, they are the best shooters and most collectable.

Here is a place you can find one within a few weeks.

In the pic the top one appears to be a 91 but is actually a Finnish M24 with a 1898 build date. It has one of the nicest stocks of any of my Finns. The others are Finn 27's and 28's.

If you don't care for the M44, you may as well sell or trade it. The Russian Mosin Nagant M38/M44/M91/30 are still easy to come by.

AIM still has the M91/30 for $70 before shipping (which is usually $10-$12).

Personally, I never really cared for the M44 as a shooter. The permanent bayonet irks me for shooting, which is why I bought M38s instead. As a collector, I should probably get one though...
