Since the DOJ has officially stated they WILL NOT be listing and have no intention of continuing the list. Perhaps we could create a bill repealing the current list of banned weapons by name (i.e. spas12, saiga, colt, rock river). It would be smaller than fighting for a full repeal of the ban.

If this works, we would get SKS with detachable magazines back since they are SB23 compliant.

W/today's demographics & districting in CA, that bill would never get out of a Public Safety/Crime committee in either house - politically it has a 'bad taste' no matter what the outcome as it sounds like they're gonna be "weak on assault weapons".

The only way to take down SB23/RR is thru court challenges on clarity matters.

Would chipping away at the current restrictions help? Say a bill were introduced so you could have a detachable magazine and a flash supressor...

An FS would seem harmless enough that it might get passed. If it did, then the collapsing buttstock could be worked on, then PG so on and so forth...

Where were you when AB448 was being considered? It had no chance because gunowners in CA didn't bother to voice their opinion. Heck, illegal aliens in CA have more clout than law abiding gun owners only because they are willing to make their voices heard.

I thought LaSeur withdrew it on his own reasons, not for a lack of support. It never made the hearings...

Not that it matters, but I wonder if any of the companies that make listed receivers (ie Colt, Bushie, Armalite/Eagle) have any grounds for legal action against the state. Think about it, DOJ is not going to update the list. Stag, DoubleStar and other offlist companies are making a KILLING in California now. Money that could have gone to the listed manufacturers if their products could be sold here.

Maybe I'm just thinking too hard. My brain hurts.
