People have briefly asked, but no one has officially answered.

What is the NRA doing about all this (2nd memo craze)? If anyone has the ability to make a ripple, it is them...

Nothing, but it is still important to pay your dues!

Call Ed Worley and ask him, last time I spoke with him he was standing by to make sure the DOJ didnt overstep its bounds. Writing a "important notice" doesnt call for a full blown alert IMHO.

The first "memo" was just liek this one. (no teeth). I have yet to hear that 1 LEO or FFL has been briefed on a new way to treat the M1a, FAL, Vulcan, OLL, mini14, etc and I dont expect we will.

Im going out on a limb here by saying we will probably see more "important notices" in the future and then some other AG will have to open the window and do what should have been done and that is list the bastards.

I call for a open Reg system in order to keep LEO, DA's etc from being confused by what rifle is legal and whats not, all they have to do is ask for zee papers.

I too am thinking the """OPEN REGISTRATION""" is the way it will probably go.

Not sure legally...what that will mean for sure, but will finally be the first complete answer to the problem from the DOJ's position.

Despite all this madness, and maybe I'm crazy for saying this, I believe we are winning.

I don't think we are winning at all (just my opinion of course). YOU GUYS (including me) are thinking LOGICALLY (safe to say because a majority of us are "conservatives"). However, as we all know, left-wingers (especially politicians) don't use LOGIC in their thinking.

(Example: LOGICALLY, the 12 million illegal immigrants have committed a crime and shouldn't be granted amnesty...yet they're going to pratically get amnesty. <---CRAZINESS to me)

True, it's just a "memo" and not law...but what that creates is CONFUSION and UNCERTAINTY (mainly because the memos and laws are conflicting)...the last thing someone like me can afford is to be a TEST CASE.

Sure, the memo isn't law...but it is guidance. The same way we used the previous memo to our advantage, LEOs can (didnt' say "will") use the new memo to their advantage.

Like I said before, the only way this will really move forward is a test case.

I know I can't afford to even be charged (even if not convicted) with something like this.

Basically, don't rely on your LOGICAL thinking as a shield, cause it won't protect you from left wing crazies. Don't rely on the LAW either, all it takes is an anti-citizens exercising their 2nd amendment LEO + 1 X left wing crazy DA (and there's many in CA) + 1 left wing I'm going to legislate from the bench judge to = JAIL TIME.

Considering the domino track-record and superficiality of the MEMOs as they pertain to the real world and actual law, I would prefer the NRA ignore the Off-List lower issue for now, until the DOJ or Legislature make any real meaningful moves.

I would prefer the national clout and muscle of the NRA (and not just Ed Worley, Paul Payne and mostly CRPA acting locally) concentrate on stopping AB2714 and AB2110, while showing greater percussion in applause of AB2131.

I was very pleased to see the NRA-ILA notifications today concerned AB2714 specifically (or even CA to any degree for that matter - maybe my writing a complaint to them last week helped?) but I hate to see the NRA leave so much of the front-line to local heroes, and take the credit later. We really need the NRA to show it's national strength in the 4th largest state in the country, while helping to devise a campaign to pull California gun owners together, in what is still, with all of our idiotic gun laws, the largest gun buying market in ALL of the United States, even surpassing Texas and Idaho!

The NRA had really dropped the ball with lack of showing their national might against AB50, and I think they regret being passive on that one. Only now are they fighting such mirrored bills in other states; and on a Federal level, Diane Feinstein wanting to ban .50BMG rifles (from CA). I hope the NRA now realizes the missed opportunity with AB50; if they had stopped it then, there would have been a lesser number of copy-cats. I hope the NRA now comes on full strength going forward against bills like AB2714, before it materializes as law here, and spreads like herpes to other states or becomes a Federal chant in Congress.

just as a joke california laws are herpes. they spread and you just can't get rid of them. but i hope the NRA gets it's butt here and helps us.we can do alot but we cannot do it all alone. we can send the letters, faxes, e-mails and so on. but they have the physical presence in the capital

So...what exactly is the NRA's position on OLL????
