Besides the lower what else can be used in both calibers. Obviously barrel is different, does the 5.56 and 6.8 use same bolt carrier group, magazines, stripped upper receiver? Thanks.

I dont know where i read it, but i thought they said certain 5.56 mags will work, just wont hold same amount of rounds obviously. Maybe it was the PMAG? Anybody know.

Also, is the bolt different or the entire bolt carrier group? Thanks for your help guys.

I haven't heard that before.

The difference between stamped 5.56x45 and 6.8 SPC magazines are thinner beads rolled in the side of the 6.8 SPC magazine body.

It would be difficult and a ~waste of time to modify 5.56x45 magazines when you can buy good 6.8 SPC magazines (even expensive PRI's).

And the bolt carriers interchange, it's just the bolt/extractor that are different.

5.56x45mm PMAGs & EMAGs are a no-go for 6.8mm SPC.
