I am looking at one for $425 and it looks like it's in excellent condition. Is this too much for one of these? Does anybody have any experience with them? I've seen the info on surplusrifle.com and they look pretty cool. The only thing I dont care for is the straigh bolt, but with all the 308 I have laying around, I could shoot it for a longggg time.;)

Thanks fellas

Great little rifle, and not a bad price. If you don't like the bolt you can change it or look for a FR-7.

Thanks fellasI have one. I bought it at Big 5 about four years ago. Paid 150.00 I wouldn't let mine go for less than 375.00 I'd say it's a bit pricey at 425. They are great little carbines. Very accurate.

I personally would not shoot .308 commercial ammo through one of these as it develops higher pressure than 7.62 NATO spec. Also, there is an FR-7 which is based on a two rather than 3 lug Mauser action. I err on the side of caution and wouldn't shoot 7.62 NATO through an FR-7 (hence wouldn't buy one). Others disagree and that's fine.

$325 seems high for an FR-8. But the price on these does appear to be going up. Some people have mentioned seeing an ad in the most recent issue of Shotgun News...but evidently it's from Hunter's Lodge and they have a horrible reputation over on Gunboards...(as in not even getting the same gun you order)...so i would pass on them.

Some guy on AR-15.com had a bunch of these for sale recently at 225. Well, just pulled up his ad and looks like they're all gone 'cept on sporterized one at 200.

Here's an article on them

I recently saw a FR-8 for $45. Should I buy it ASAP?

;)

I think they cost $110 ea. off the back of SGN. Like new in and out. I just got another even nicer one for $200 Last week. No picture of it yet but soon. It has a beaut of a stock and the metal is a dark black like an AR-15 finish. The others are a parkerized green/grey. I have only shot this one with 150g M2 bullets and IMR4064.
