What grade level is the school?
That is pretty rare these days. Try and support it as much as possible.

I'm sorry. There is almost no way this is what you think it is.

I truly hope I am wrong, god i pray I am since it would brighten my whole year, but the realist in me says...no way. I have heard even ROTC clubs at High Schools have trouble forming firearm clubs. I have also heard of "rifle clubs" being baton parade clubs, the firearms are fake wooden parade pieces that are tossed and flipped like the USMC demonstration team.

Please update us and tell me I am wrong. I would love to heard about a public school sponsored firearms training club.

it is possible if it is a private school, my local private school that I used to go to is on the verge of starting a target shooting club. Gonna start with BB guns to learn all the basics, then a few trips to the range with a bunch of borrowed 22's and a few bigger guns.

I wish I had a Rifle Club at my school when I was a kid.

When my kid's school asked if any of the parents wanted to coach a particular sport, I made my son laugh when I suggested that I was going to submit "Air Pistol and Basic Pistol."

I'm sure that would have gotten the ant's nest going :)

And volunteer, volunteer, volunteer! .22LR rifle clubs were still common when I was in elementary school. Now, they have zero tolerance policies for kids bringing empty brass cases to class!

Cool! My daughter is five and she already knows that you always clean the barrel from the breach end!

Details:

A California Charter Junior High School, in association w/ Lincoln Rifle Club in California. They'll definitely be shooting bolt-action .22LR rifles with an eye toward training future competitors.

I'd argue that they have a small bore, so yes. But that's me.

This is great news. I wish I had the opportunity when I was going to school like that.

My first year in High School back in 94-95, they just stopped the Rifle team for JROTC, so this is great

Numerous colleges and universities have shooting teams, and in some cases there are scholarship opportunites available. Though a lot of the programs are connected to ROTC units, some are independent. I believe MIT still has a pistol shooting team.
