Does anyone know were you can get an A2 front sight post that works with a carry handle upper.
I have a F marked one now and I have to run the rear sight up pretty far.

The rear elevation is for shooting longer distances once your rifle is dialed in (typical 25 yards). The typical mil-spec carry handle will have a 6/3 mark and that's where you want to set when sighting in your rifle. You're supposed to adjust the FRONT sight or windage ONLY during zeroing your rifle. Read the manual (link below) to starting on page 87.

Watch the video, it DPMS taking you step by step on standard military zero using carry handle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Etnf76QTu_U

Here's a link on printing your 25 meter target: http://www.bobdbob.com/~deneb/doc/targets/m16a2-25m-zero.pdf

Guys I appreciate the input on the correct way to sight in an AR.
An "F" marked front sight is meant to be used with a flat top upper. This I do not have. I have an A2 carry handle upper.
A "F" marked front sight is a little taller than the A2 front sight I am looking for. So the problem I am having is, if I set me rear sight at 8/3 and run my front sight post up to zero the rifle, the post sticks up past the top of the sight. This is not correct.
What I need is a non "F" marked A2 sight which is a little shorter sight that will take care of this problem.

So your saying that you are bottoming out your front post sight? I'm hoping I'm understanding you, is this what you might need? http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=810857

Gotcha, I see your problem, you can switch out the entire front site housing for the one you prefer. They go for $35.00, http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=277
