View Full Version : FNH SCAR Heavy 17S, 308 -- NIB/Virgin

Hi Folks,

Thought about this for a while and decided to place my NIB (Virgin) FNH SCAR Heavy 17S 308 Rifle in FDE. FN came out with the Black version first and the FDE is the second release. I've been waiting for about 3 years. My dealer has been waiting 9 months. I bought his first SCAR-H and paid a very high price.

I bought it because it's very light, high calibre, accurate, and battle tested.

I really don't want to sell it but will list it here because I think there is a demand here in Kalifornia, just in time for Christmas!

Locked due to numerous violations. This is not a discussion forum. Use pms for that. Please do not begin a new one for 24hrs. from 4:25pm, Monday.

The pricing I am asking is audacious but that's my asking price. These are extremely hard to get and it was a 3 year wait ...

Please enjoy the pictures and bringing up the controversies of 308 semi-auto black rifles.

This rifle is for someone who wants a super modern rifle without jumping through the hoops to get one. My intention is FTF/PPT.

If I were to keep the rifle, I would choose FDE and paint it multicam (black rifles are harder to paint due to dark bleed through). Welcome to PM me, but please don't be mad at me because I'm beautiful.

Asking: $3880 PPT/FTF (No tax, just your dealer's PPT fee). Remember, LWRC REPRs were selling for about $4K OTD in recent past at several SoKal and NoKal Dealers.

I am planning to come to Orange County mid December, 2010.
Future loitering in Santa Clara, Bay Area.

Thanks for looking.
For Clarifications, I supplanted my previous LMT MWS 308 ad and replaced it with this SCAR-H to follow the rule of one post for firearms per Calgunner.

24hr Bump --

This is a picture of a target a snipershide poster has of his MWS. I have not had time to post my pictures. It's pretty impressive little semi-auto 308.

If I remember correctly, it's 10rds, 100yrds. You can read about it on the snipershide link I provided above.

Thanks for answering the questions Bongos. I don't get a chance to view this site often.

Yes, the SR-25 mags are the best pattern. Very reliable. I think Magpul's LR-20 mags are the best!

Here is a picture of how I would equip my LMT -- if I had the money!:D

OK, I have a back up LMT MWS 308 that is available.

Here is a brief shooting experience of my own MWS that I've configured to my specifications:
Magpul Flip up sights
Leupold Mark IV scopey

The LMT is very solid feeling. The recoil is brisk and harder than the LWRC REPR and LARUE OBR. It is extremely accurate and shoots crappy loads very well. The chrome lined barrel made the cleaning surprisingly easy. The patches came out very clean as compared to the OBR and REPR! Keeps zero well due to the very thick barrel acting as a high capacity heat sink.

Here is a picture of the 308 Trifecta:
http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/uu269/ddindetroit/DSC07919.jpg

Here is a picture of a typical group by the LMT MWS: 80yrds, outdoors 1hour left of light, police range
Using 180gr Hornady Spitzer factory 2nd bullets, practice rounds (not intended for accuracy).

Here is a picture of the best group of the day: 5 shots in the little clover-leaf!
Notice the little 22 holes next to it -- that's my kids trying to 'help me.'

just for clarification DD is selling *ANOTHER* new-in-box LMT .308 MWS. I'm still picking one up from him.

DD seems to have the ability to breed .308 ARs. Maybe for the next liter you can get the REPR and LMT to breed, resulting in a side-charging DI .308 AR! LOL... :)

Beetle, you are correct. I have another LMT available for sale. Not everybody is as lucky as you and have both the REPR and the MWS. You have the best of both worlds.

LMT for CQB and accurate reach to 800yrds.

LWRC for Suppressed work and can be fired like a bolt gun by turning the gas selector to 'off.' The left handed/side charging handle makes this a breeze.

This is my OBR for those who are asking. Nice rifle but requires match ammo to get consistent groups.

Take care,

Here is the scuttlebutt on the LMT MWS. I was just talking to the brass with Fish and Game. The thought from Sacramento was to mothball the existing duty rifle presently the M-14 (308 Win) and instead replace it with the AR-15 platform in 223 Rem. The reasoning was that most engagements were with two legged variety and not 4 legged ones.

However, Fish and Game is a small agency but very savvy about their choice of weapons. They procured an LMT MWS 308 from the manufacturer in order to T&E (trial and evaluation) it ... this rifle was pulled from the Italian Special Forces -- because they are considering copying the British.

Why consider the LMT MWS?

1) Easy to transition -- most people have trigger time on AR platform
2) LMT is extremely accurate and robust
3) You get the best of both worlds -- AR platform in a 308 configuration
4) Plethora of AR options to 'gun-up' for the mission at hand

Just for your information.:)

Hi seller. I am confused about which weapon is still for sale in this thread, and after reading the entire thread twice, guess I'm not alone. Please clarify here or in original post.

Mods, please do not delete.

Hi, DD -- Seller here,

The ad is for the NIB LMT MWS and is in the first frame of the ad. The rest of the AR 308 rifles is to show that I have experience with (Larue OBR and the LWRC REPR). It lends some credibility to my comments.

Yes, the LMT MWS 308 is for sale. I just post interesting pictures to generate discussion and shared knowledge amongst the 'bored.'

Heck, my confused way of putting this together generated a response by you! You can PM me if you have further questions.

Take care,

Is this the SS barrel for 3k.

ddindetroit
11-18-2010, 12:49 PM
Is this the SS barrel for 3k.

Actually: No.

Here is my thought on this. The SS black finish is a 11.25 twist. The chrome lined barrel is 1 in 10 twist. It shoots fabulously and cleans well. Why would I want to change that? Shoots sub MOA with regular ammo, cleans with three swipes of patch and the chrome lining is more corrosion resistant than SS ... no reason to ask for anything more except for variety of barrel lengths and perhaps different calibre changes.

I know what you mean. I had to sleep on it before paying the cash to get it. I want to shoot this rifle so badly but want to hold off as it's still virgin. I want the buyer to have a virgin SCAR-H.

Again, this is an audacious price and I'm waiting for a Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon to buy this SCAR-H.

If it does not happen, I'm happy to keep her for myself. I love the LMT MWS and it's great to shoot. If I were packing a 308 for miles ... say Big Game hunting, I would rather pack the SCAR (it feels only 1/2 the weight of the super duper LMT MWS).

Waiting for my Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon to buy this beauty ...

Here are some must reads if you are interested in the SCAR 17 experience. Remember SCAR 17 program is still in effect with SOCOM. The SCAR 17 has supplanted the SCAR 16 because of the thought that the SCAR 17 can be converted to 556 in the near future.
