I have a SA 1911 SS Loaded model and have a question.
When I try to insert the mag I have to press the mag release button before it will lock in place ....is that common with all SA models?
I have tried many other handguns and have found this to only happy on my
springer.
Defect or just the way they are made?

Both of my Loaded models required a pretty good slam to lock into place. This is not a problem as a loaded mag is heavy and slams home pretty well, but if you like it to lock in easier you can do what I did. My gunsmith, Will O'Hara in Corona, changed the mag release spring and polished the release so mags now slide in like butter.
My Springfield Loaded Champion does that too.

Springfield 1911s seem to be awfully tight before they are fired a few hundred times. Mine loosened up, I'm sure yours will too.
