Hi Guys... just a heads up.

I found this on Rat Worx web site....

RAT WORX and MSAR are running a rebate on the MSAR rifles starting today Sept. 1, 2010 and ending Dec. 15, 2010. RAT WORX will give a $150.00 rebate to those who buy an STG-556, and a $200.00 rebate to those who buy the STG-E4, a RAT WORX Bullpup Brotherhood T-Shirt will be sent with your rebate. You will receive a rebate form with your rifle. Offer good while supplies last.

I dont work for them and I'm not getting a kickback... just thought you might want to know. I did just pull the trigger on an OD green with 18.5" barrel :)

All the best,
Mark-

Standard AR magazine?

Yeah.. the E4 take the AR mags.

The 556 takes a proprietary Mag, but they are stopping production on the 556 model to concentrate on the new caliber conversions that drop into the E4. Thats why I purchased the E4... just worried about Mag availability in the future...

Don't want to bad mouth these rifles, I like the bullpup concept and they certainly look cool but..... one of the high speed low drag LE publications did a review on the MSAR and stated "Guaranteed to shoot 1.5MOA at 150 feet!!!" The rifles look cool, and while I'd like them to cost less when compared to other rifles they seem fairly priced. However, 1.5 moa at 150 feet equals 3moa at 100 yards. I'd like to get more bang for my buck personally.

Well, MOA is MOA, that would mean it shoots 3/4" at 50 yards, it doesn't say what it will do at 100 yards...

Meh... depends on what review you read. Small Arms Review stated they were able to get sub MOA @ 100 and reading through the forums I see anywhere from 2 MOA to 3/4" groups at 100. Granted this is not a competition rifle and I don't expect it to be. I want something light, fast and manuverble... This fits the bill.

Don't believe the rags.

The MSAR is accurate and shoots and balances very well.

Remember that those reviewers are almost always shooting brand new guns; if the MSAR has a fault, it's that it needs to be broken in first.

Everyone who shoots mine has a smile on their face afterward and says "I NEED one of these."

+1, I have that Small Arms Review magazine. I'll bet that magazine the OP read either did the test with irons or the A1 style scope.

so-- anyone done a featureless yet? how hard is it to get that front handgrip off? a little kydex.... man. that would be awesome....

That guy who sells the kydex grips sells them for the STGs. Removal of the front pistol grip shouldn't be to hard.

how hard y'all think it is to retrofit a standard mag catch to this baby?

I never thought about 1.5 MOA at 150' working out to 1.5" at 100 yard. Well I stand corrected, that's not too terrible. I've seen these in CDNN for as cheap as $1099, same company but different model? If I moved out of state I might check one out.

If your going feature-less... just send it to MSAR or Ratworx and they will put a factory release back on....

The E4 goes for about $1400 with the rebate.. the STG 556 would be $1070 with the rebate...

Sounds to me like the e4 uses stanag mags, like the several dozen I have had since the nineties... the other one has proprietary mags...

NoseGoblin
09-08-2010, 7:31 PM
The STG-556 has proprietary Mags made by MSAR, but you can use UAG mags. It also comes with a taller sight rail.

The E4 has the lower sight rail and it can use AR mags and can accept the caliber conversion kits they are making for 6.8 SPC, 7.63X39 etc and perhaps the pistol cal conversion kits as well.

They are mechanically the same rifle with different stocks and sight rails.

Do they make a bullet button for these or do i have to make a paddle grip? Will they ship to CA?

NoseGoblin
09-09-2010, 9:34 AM
Ratworx has Cali versions in the 556 and E4 models (Rad-Lock), just give them a call and let them know what color stock you want and the barrel length... 16, 18.5 or 20. I have read that 18.5 is the sweet spot... gets you min legal length and a nice stiff barrel for accuracy.

If you want to go paddle grip, you need to send just the stock back to MSAR or Ratworx to have the factory release installed....

Love the gun - a lot of fun to shoot. Just converting to featureless with Ratworx adding back the standard magazine release (takes an unusual microtech tool, so you have to send it back). Ratworx also makes a tri-rail forend where you can add a KAC handstop for a little grabbing action.

I personally think the higher rail looks cooler but i like the ability for it to take standard ar mags. any pros or cons on the higher or lower sight rails?

I think that the lower rail helps with cheek weld if your running a scope. The higher rail would likely work better for Red-Dot systems.. You can change them out after the fact with whatever style you choose to purchase, so your not stuck with it if it does not fit you.

For those of you that own one of these bad boys, I would suggest you consider the enhanced charging handle made by manticore arms...it has saved my fingers from ripping on the rail/optic mounts many times....

they are really cool but i have not pulled the trigger on one because they do not outperform an m4. sure, they are smaller but i don't feel its worth it when I already have a slew of ar guns that perform the same or better.

how bout some porn maybe ill change my mind and just have to buy one to have!

Thanks NoseGoblin for the heads up for the OD color since it was sold out. Almost ordered a black the other day but didnt get a chance to.

A question does the E4 come with all the side rails or is it purchased separately. Also the 18.5in barrel sounds very nice too.

Uh, no 1.5 MOA at 150 feet is 1.5 MOA at 100 yards.

You're thinking of 1.5 inches at 150ft (50yd) equals 3 inches at 100yd (~3 MOA).

Get at least one :D

They're about a billion times cooler than an AR, and I love AR's.

In my experience, the people that crap on them are the people that don't have them; I know a couple guys that used to talk smack about them, and lo and behold. . . they got one and now they're all but MSAR fanboys

I hate to rain on a parade, but as much as I love the 556's/E4's, I'm not holding my breath waiting for the different rifle calibers and the pistol caliber carbines to come out. They were announced 2 or 3 years ago and MSAR is currently in a very long and involved move from PA to NC.

Also, the MSAR MCS carbines in 9mm, .45, and .40 will be totally different from the E4's. They will have a bottom-ejecting blowback design.

That being said, I'm still on the waiting list for an MCS in 9mm :D

I would not hold my breath either, its going to be a while. Speaking with the folks at RatWorx, they said the 556 was being discontinued so that MSAR could concentrate on the caliber conversions and the MCS platform... When this will hit the market is anyones guess.
